🔼 New Staff Who Dis? Wichita State men’s basketball head coach Paul Mills announced his inaugural coaching staff this week. Need a refresher on the three new hires? We’ve got you right here…

🏀 Kenton Paulino was most recently at Oral Roberts where Coach Paul Mills earned 2023 National Coach of the Year honors. He’s been with Coach Mills for the past two seasons and now looks to bring the Shockers back into the mix.

🏀 Chris Hollender bring 20 years of Division I coaching to Wichita as an offensive guru and recruiting behemoth. Most recently at Missouri, he comes in seeking to establish Wichita State as the new standard of college basketball.

🏀 Quincy Acy was the 37th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft and was most recently at his alma mater, Baylor. This will be his first step in the coaching world, and Wichita State’s newest head coach is set on making the move a successful one.

🔼 Looking Forward. Wichita State baseball fell 8-1 last night in Oklahoma, finishing the season having won two out of three games over the Sooners.

Nate Snead started on the mound and have a solid three inning performance with zero earned runs and one strikeout in his first career start. Payton Tolle had the sole run of the night for the Shockers as he blasted one over the right field wall in the top of the fourth inning to make it a 1-1 ballgame. Freshman outfielder Jaden Gustafson added another multi-hit game to his resume, going 2-for-4 from the plate.

The focus now shifts for the Shockers as they look ahead to this weekend’s series against Tulane in New Orleans.

🔼 May The Fores Be With You. Wichita State women’s golf wrapped up the ORU Spring Invitational yesterday with a sixth place finish, thanks in part to Mackenzie Wilson and Mar Vidal leading the way and hitting ‘em straight.

Mackenzie Wilson shot a 1-under par, 71 on the final day to finish in a tie for 8th place at 4-over par, 220. The freshman collected her third top 10 finish of the season behind Tuesday's under par round. Her 71 tied for the second lowest 18-hole score of the season, one stroke behind a season best, 70.

Mar Vidal registered her third top 20 finish behind a 9-over par, 225. She tied for 19th behind a first round even-par, 72.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

Something old, something new. We talked earlier about a brand new staff for Wichita State men’s basketball, but let’s turn back the clock today. After all, our hope is that a few decades from now, the Shocker Brew is asking trivia questions about how many years it took Coach Paul Mills to become the winningest coach in program history. But until then…

Can you name the head coach with the highest winning percentage in program history? (Hint: He only coached one season.)

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Weekly honors are something Shockers softball has become accustomed to. In fact, they went back for seconds after some sensational performances this past week of play.

Alex Aguilar earned her second Pitcher of the Week award for the season after going 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (is that good?) including a complete game against Memphis.

Sydney McKinney got in on the fun by earning her second Player of the Week honor in as many weeks after going an astonishing 9-for-13 from the plate over four games, driving in nine runs and scoring nine herself.

Look out for your 20th-ranked Shockers this weekend as they face Houston on ESPN+.
