Good morning, Shocker Nation! Wichita State put an end to its three-game losing streak with a 68-59 win over Charlotte Tuesday night in Charles Koch Arena.
Corey Washington led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Harlond Beverly recorded his 1,000th career point in the game, finishing with 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting, five rebounds and four assists. Xavier Bell extended his double figure scoring streak to nine in a row with 10 points.

🔼 The Need … The Need For Speed. The witnesses don't remember the exact mile time that Kellyn (Johnson) Taylor—part of the 2025 Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame induction class to be inducted on Saturday, Jan. 18—ran that day in the Heskett Center. They do remember it went well, though, as it was better than their highest expectations for the new arrival from junior college.
"She blew everybody away," said Marc Burns, former Wichita State cross country coach, who remembers her running around 4:48, about 10 seconds faster than previously.

🔼 Wave Hits Wichita. Wichita State looks to add one to the win column, seeking its first AAC home win, as they take on the Tulane Green Wave in Charles Koch Arena, tipping off tonight at 6 p.m. CT. The Shockers are 7-6 all-time against Tulane, leading the series 4-2 in Charles Koch Arena.
Through 18 games, Jayla Murray leads the Shockers in scoring with 12.2 points per game. Taylor Jameson has been the best three-point shooter for Wichita State, hitting 31 threes this season. Bre'Yon White is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 5.7 rebounds per game.

🔼 Advantage Shockers. Wichita State men's tennis enters their third season under head coach, Darragh Glavin, with a match this evening at UCF at 5 p.m. CT.
The team is coming off a successful fall season, particularly for Kristof Minarik and Alejandro Jacome, who collected wins over multiple power four opponents and doubles wins in high-level events throughout the fall.
🔼 Circle of Friends. A small group of Shockers opened their indoor season at the Friend First Chance Qualifier on Saturday, Jan. 11 in the Heskett Center, sweeping the top three places in the women's hurdles and women's pole vault.
Freshmen Kyle Scott and Darius Graham claimed event titles in their collegiate debuts, with Scott winning the pole vault with a clearance of 3.65m/11'11.75" and Graham winning the high jump with his opening bar clearance of 1.95m/6'4.75".
Senior Destiny Masters claimed her first victory of the season, running 8.85 to win the 60-meter hurdles final after winning the prelims with a time of 8.72.
