Shocktoberfest. Shocktoberfest 2025 is underway this week, and there are still more great events coming up every day! We can’t wait to see you out and about celebrating everything that makes Wichita State special.
📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Athlete of the Week. Wichita State’s own Lucy Ndungu is your American Conference Athlete of the Week! Ndungu finished as the runner-up at the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational in her first cross country race in two years; her time of 17:42.4 in the 5k helped lead the Shockers to a second-place team finish. It marks the third conference weekly honor of Ndungu’s career and her first of the season.

🔼 Memorial ‘70. On October 2, Wichita State will host the 55th Observance of Memorial ‘70, honoring the 31 WSU football players, administrators, and supporters who died in the Rocky Mountains in a 1970 plane crash. The remembrance will be held at the Memorial near 18th and Hillside. A reception will follow the ceremony in the lobby of Duerksen Fine Arts Center and is open to all.

🔼 Honor Roll. Wichita State volleyball’s Brooklyn Leggett and Maddie Wilson are turning heads this season! The duo earned spots on the American Conference Honor Roll, which recognizes their performances from the week of Sept 22-28. The Shockers got two road wins in the past week and climbed to 2-0 in conference play. Leggett averaged 3.43 kills per set while hitting .404, and Wilson averaged 1.43 blocks per set en route to hitting .304.

🔼 Fall Ball. The first fall tournament is in the books for Wichita State women’s tennis! Six Shockers earned 14 victories at the Husker Invitational as Wichita State finished 8-4 in doubles and 6-9 in singles. Kristina Kudryavtseva and Theodora Chantava paved the way for the Shockers with a 4-0 doubles weekend.
