Good morning! Fall ball is still on as Shocker baseball returns to the diamond on Saturday for 14 innings at Eck Stadium against Dallas Baptist.
What else are we mixing into today’s edition of the Shocker Brew?
🎾 Wang closes out strong showing at ITA Central Region Championships
🏀 Year Two has begun
🌾 And much, much more!
🌾 ONE BIG THING
Xin Tong Wang's singles runner-up finish highlighted a strong showing for the Wichita State women's tennis team at the 2024 ITA Central Region Championships last week. Wang's run to the championship match saw her become the first Shocker since 1983 to play for the Central Region singles crown and she became the first Shocker to earn a bid to the NCAA Individual Championships since 2018. All seven Shockers collected at least two wins in singles over the weekend, totaling 24 singles victories as a team to just eight losses across all brackets in the event.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Round Two. It is Year Two for Wichita State basketball under new leadership and in the newly configured American Athletic Conference. Men's coach Paul Mills and women's coach Terry Nooner know what's up for their second season leading the Shockers. Both coaches recognized the need for experience and defense after their first seasons. Mills retained eight Shockers from last season and added four DI transfers, all with at least two seasons of experience, and Matej Bosnjak from Croatia. Nooner brought in four from junior college and three with DI experience to pair with six returners.
🔼 Ready To Work. From halfway across the globe, Wichita State men’s tennis signed Amir Milushev. Milushev officially signed on with the Shockers and will join the team next year.
🔼 Tickets For Sale. Wichita State Basketball is back in Charles Koch Arena! Single-game and group tickets for non-conference games as well as mini plans for the Shockers' men's and women's basketball teams are on sale now. This season, fans can once again take advantage of the popular Pick 4 Mini Plan for men's basketball. Select seats in the upper reserved sections to any two non-conference games and any two conference games for $180 to complete the Pick 4 Mini Plan that works best for you!
