Shocker Brew 10/28: Back Like They Never Left
Today, a men’s basketball wins wire-to-wire in exhibition and volleyball completes weekend sweep

🌾 ONE BIG THING
Wichita State men’s basketball nearly hit the century mark in a wire-to-wire exhibition win over Emporia State Sunday night, 99-53. The 99 points are the most a Wichita State team has scored in an exhibition since 2017 when they scored 113. Wichita State upped its exhibition win streak to 30 in a row.
Five Shockers reached double figures, led by Corey Washington with 15. He missed just one shot from the field, going 6-for-7. Quincy Ballard and Harlond Beverly both added 12 points, while Ballard tallied eight rebounds. The Shockers will officially get the season started next Monday, Nov. 4 on the road at Western Kentucky.

🔼 Double Dubs. Shocker volleyball completed its weekend sweep on Sunday with a four-set win over UAB to move to 11-10 overall and 6-3 in AAC play. Morgan Stout finished with an impressive 22 kills in the match while Sarah Barham joined the 1K club with her 12 kills against the Blazers. The Shockers will look to pick back up where they left off on Friday in their first of two matches against Tulsa.
🔼 What A Run. Wichita State's Alejandro Jacome and Kristof Minarik dropped their doubles semifinal match to the No. 1 seeded team on Saturday morning, ending their run at the 2024 AAC Individual Championships. After taking down fifth-seeded Memphis on Friday, the fourth-seeded Shocker duo could not keep up the momentum on Saturday, falling in straight sets to close out their time in Houston.
🔼 Impressive Play. The Shocker duo of Giorgia Roselli and Theodora Chantava's brilliant run at the 2024 AAC Individual Championships came to an end against the top-seeded doubles team in the field on Saturday morning. In singles play, Kristina Kudryavtseva wrapped up play on Saturday for the Shockers with a loss to Tulane. The next team action for the Shockers is at the Tulsa Invitational on November 1.
