Good morning, Shocker Nation.

What else are we mixing into today’s piping hot edition of the Shocker Brew? Find out below!

🏀 Upgrades All Around
🎳 Season Starts Here
🌾 And much, much more!

🔼 Upgrades All Around. Wichita State rolled out a batch of gameday changes at Charles Koch Arena for the basketball season, headlined by a $5 value menu, a Freddy’s Frozen Custard stand across from the Aetna Multi-Purpose Center, and a slate of new concession items. Season ticket holders now get single-game perforated parking passes they can share, additional self-scan stanchions speed up entry, and a new 360-degree interactive seat map lets fans preview the view before they buy. SCHEELS Jr. Shocker Club members also get free admission to five games this year, up from one.

🔼 The Dawg. Teammates and coaches alike reach for the same word when describing Ma’Riya Vincent, the 6-foot junior guard who defends bigger and smaller opponents alike and credits her mom, a former NJCAA All-American, for pushing her to build guard skills rather than lean on size. Terry Nooner recruited her out of high school, lost her to Missouri, then landed her through the transfer portal two years later. Read more.

🔼 Fall Report From the Skipper. Brian Green checks in after wrapping the first two phases of fall workouts, during which Wichita State baseball won all three scrimmages. He breaks down a pitching staff that’s pounding the zone, including returner Caleb Reed and two newcomers who impressed, plus Nolan Ganter’s push for more power at first base and why he thinks this offense will have more ways to score. The First Pitch banquet is set for Jan. 29 ahead of the Feb. 19 opener against Hofstra.

🔼 Season Starts Here. Wichita State women’s bowling opens the 2026-27 season today at Destination Orlando, a three-day event at Boardwalk Bowl hosted by Sacred Heart. The third-ranked Shockers face a loaded field of 22 other teams, a dozen of them ranked in the preseason NTCA Poll, including No. 1 Jacksonville State and No. 2 Vanderbilt. Wichita State arrives off a fifth-place finish at the Mid-States Championships, where Aleesha Oden claimed MVP honors.

We want to hear from you. Take our reader survey and tell us a little about yourself, what you love, and what you want more of. Your feedback helps us make sure every edition of the Shocker Brew email is worth opening.
