🌾 ONE BIG THING

Shocker women’s basketball faces Northeastern State in an exhibition today to soft launch the 2024-25 women's basketball season inside Charles Koch Arena with year two of the Terry Nooner era set to officially begin Monday, Nov. 4 against Oklahoma Christian. With nine newcomers on the team, the Shockers return 37.6 percent of their scoring. Sophomore Salese Blow is back for her sophomore season after leading Wichita State in scoring during conference play, averaging 13.5 points per game in the AAC and 12.3 points per game overall.

The exhibition game will not be televised, but fans can listen at GoShockers.com/Listen.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Weekend Standout. After helping lead the Shockers to a pair of victories last weekend, Morgan Stout was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week. In two matches against Memphis and UAB, Stout averaged 6.06 points per set, and on Sunday, set a new career-high with 22 kills. The award marks the first Player of the Week honors for Shocker volleyball this season.

🔼 Schedule Update. After careful consideration and utilizing all available weather resources, in the interest of safety, the 2024 AAC Cross Country Championships will be moved to Friday, Nov. 1. The women's 6K race will be run at 4:05 p.m., with the men's 8K race starting at 4:50 p.m.

🔼 Home Improvements. Sunday's 99-53 exhibition win over Emporia State doesn't offer definitive answers, but it showed the Shockers understand and are moving in the right direction. Head coach Paul Mills hasn’t hidden the to-do list for the Shockers to improve this year: turn the ball over less and improve the defense. Through the first game of the season, Mills saw some things to tweak in practice but feels confident that things will be better when the regular season begins.

🗣️ "There's some good things. Seventy-five percent from the free-throw line is good, especially this early in the year. Only having five turnovers for the game. We've got a number of things to clean up." - Paul Mills
