Good morning, Shocker Nation. Wichita State’s rebuilt pitching staff is leaning on command instead of velocity this fall, and the early returns are strong with 39 strikeouts against just seven walks over 29 innings in three scrimmage wins. Thirteen Shockers took the mound in those outings and six didn’t issue a single walk, with only one pitcher surrendering more than one.

Brian Green says the staff was assembled by targeting experience, a breaking ball, and a clean delivery rather than radar-gun readings, and freshman Kaden Longman has backed it up with six strikeouts and no walks in three innings. The Black & Yellow Fall World Series opened Wednesday with a 5-0 Black win and wraps Saturday at 2 p.m.
