Shocker Brew 11/1: One Down, A Season To Go
Today, women’s basketball wins exhibition in dominant fashion and a pair of Shocker tennis previews

🌾 ONE BIG THING
Wichita native Taylor Jameson led Shocker women’s basketball to an 81-46 exhibition victory over Northeastern State on Wednesday evening in The Roundhouse. The graduate transfer put up 16 points and dished out four assists with zero turnovers in her first game in the black and yellow. All 12 Shockers who were suited up scored at least one point with 10 players playing at least 10 minutes and the bench scoring 33 points.

📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Double Dose. Fresh off a pair of hard-fought home victories, Wichita State takes on Tulsa in a split series on Friday and Sunday. The Shockers and Golden Hurricane square off on Friday in Tulsa and Sunday in Wichita. Sarah Barham passed 1,000 career kills on Sunday, racking up 12 terminations on just 20 swings while Morgan Stout comes into the weekend after having earned selections for the NCAA Rotation of the Week and AAC Offensive Player of the Week.
🔼 Full Slate. Wichita State women's tennis will take a short trip to Tulsa for the last full team competition for the Shockers in the fall season to compete in the Tulsa Invitational from November 1-3. At last year's Invitational, the Shockers went 5-4 in doubles and 13-6 in singles matches across the weekend. Current Shockers Kristina Kudryavtseva and Xin Tong Wang went undefeated in singles.
🔼 To The Mountains. Shocker men's tennis team is set to travel to Denver to take part in the Colorado Cup from November 1-4. Seven members will make the trip to the mountains and will compete against individuals from Air Force, Pennsylvania and Denver. The competition will be stiff, as both Pennsylvania and Denver finished the 2024 spring season ranked in the ITA Top 75 rankings.
🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Shocker men’s basketball guard Bijan Cortes joins the podcast to talk about Sunday’s exhibition win and how the Shockers are changing their defensive approach. The crew discusses building a connection with center Quincy Ballard on lobs and why that play is exciting. Plus, hear about why he wears No. 55, why college athletes are paying more attention to their clothes and which Shocker might win a game of H-O-R-S-E.

Both Shocker basketball teams tip off the season on Monday, but Shocker women’s basketball will start first. The women play at 11 a.m. against Oklahoma Christian at Charles Koch Arena while the men will tip off at 7 p.m. against Western Kentucky.
