🏀 Filling the Stands
🌾 And much, much more!

🔼 A Letter to Shocker Nation. Athletics director Kevin Saal sent a message to fans ahead of the basketball season, and it’s time to get excited ahead of a new season of Wichita State men’s and women’s hoops. Paul Mills returns 11 players from last year’s 24-win team, accounting for 67.5% of the scoring production, and the Shockers enter as the preseason coaches’ poll favorite.

🔼 All-Conference Haul. Wichita State cross country sent four runners onto the all-conference team at the American Championships, with the men taking third and the women finishing fourth at Lake Oaks Park. Defending champion Elkana Kipruto lost the title in a sprint to the line, taking second behind Tulane’s Silas Kiptanui, while Nicholas Kipchirchir and Dennis Rono joined him with fourth- and sixth-place finishes. Vivien Kipkorir took third in the women’s 6K. Elkana Kipruto, Nicholas Kipchirchir, Dennis Rono, and Vivien Kipkorir earned all-conference honors.

🔼 Filling the Stands. Two anonymous donors along with David and Piper Ayala have bought into Wichita State’s men’s basketball community ticket initiative, bringing Cheese Johnson’s UJUMP and the Ronald McDonald House onto the list of nonprofits receiving tickets this season. The program will distribute more than 6,200 tickets across the 2026-27 campaign to organizations including League 42, the Wichita Children’s Home, and Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters. Center William Berg and Star Lumber & Supply joined the effort last month, and several founding contributors have signed on again.
