Elkana Kipruto earned All-American honors at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning in Missouri. Kipruto finished 24th in a field of 261 men, and became the fifth Shocker to earn cross-country All-American recognition. Kipruto’s performance was the best finish among all American Conference runners.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Bounced Back. Wichita State men’s hoops picked up the win over Milwaukee on Saturday night, downing the Panthers, 75-58. The 4-1 Shockers got off to a slow start before dominating the second half to cruise to the 19-point win. Kenyon Giles drained 24 points, with 18 coming after the break, and TJ Williams added a career-high 15 and eight boards. Karon Boyd tallied 12 and Emmanuel Okorafor contributed 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

Next up: The Shockers play three games in three days in the Bahamas from Nov. 26-28.

🔼 “What We Work For.” Kenyon Giles and Michael Gray Jr. are always a threat from beyond the arc, and when opposing defenses hone in on them, TJ Williams is ready to step up. "

“They gravitate towards those two a lot,” Williams said. “It’s three-on-three basketball, it feels like, out there with a whole lot of space.”

As Giles works the defense, things start to open up for Wichita State’s offense, and when the scoring comes, so does the crowd noise. And that, Giles said, is “what we work for.”

🔼 Catching It. Wichita State baseball assistant coach Collin Wilber joined The Roundhouse Podcast to dig into the state of catching for Shockers baseball, and why coaching catchers is so critical. Wichita State will head into the season with four catchers on the roster; Wilber breaks down each’s performance in fall ball so far.

🔼 Tournament Battle. Wichita State women’s bowling beat the No. 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 12 teams in the country en route to a fifth-place finish at the Colonial Lanes Classic. Arkansas State defeated the Shockers, 4-2, in the first round of bracket play as the school claimed the overall title. Aleesha Oden landed on the All-Tournament team. The fall schedule is now over for the Shockers, who will be back at it in January.
