Good morning, Shocker Nation.

What else are we mixing into today’s piping hot edition of the Shocker Brew? Find out below!

👟 Just the beginning
🔥 Hot October
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Congratulations to Wichita State’s Mercy Jepkoech, who won the American Conference Freshman of the Year honor for Wichita State Track & Field and Cross Country!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Hot October. Aleesha Oden landed on the Conference USA Performers of the Month Team for her strong start to the Wichita State women’s bowling season! The honor recognizes the top six statistical performers for the month of October. The junior logged a 230.8 average in the team’s season-opening tournament before bowling a 198.8 average at the Track Kat Klash.

🔼 Go And Go. Wichita State men’s basketball coach Paul Mills knew it was risky to play two small guards frequently on Tuesday, but the Shockers passed the defensive test with 5-foot-10 Kenyon Giles and 5-foot-11 Dre Kindell during their win over UNC Asheville. On offense, the duo was as good as expected, with Giles scoring 20 points and Kindell adding 11. Here’s why Giles and Kendell are two guards who go and go.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. In the latest edition of The Roundhouse Podcast, former Wichita State volleyball star Morgan Stout talks about getting ready for her second season of pro volleyball with the Omaha Supernovas. Stout talks about her transition from college to the pro game, why former Nebraska coach John Cook was so influential in her decision to sign with the Supernovas, and so much more.

🔼 Go Bowling. Wichita State women’s bowling is back in Texas this weekend for the Bulldog Classic after a strong start to the season! The Shockers have won one tournament and finished runners-up in another already, and will be one of 10 ranked teams in the 16-team field this weekend. Full preview here.

🔼 Match Week. Wichita State volleyball is back at it with two matches this weekend, including tonight’s home game against East Carolina at 7 p.m. Then, the Shockers will battle Charlotte at Charles Koch Arena on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+. More details here.

🔼 To Oklahoma. Four Wichita State men’s tennis players are in Stillwater to compete at the Cowboy Classic, which runs from Nov. 7-9. Luke Bracks, Amir Milushev, Zaid Al Mashni, and Pablo Roche Alcaya will compete against players from Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, SMU, and Tulsa during the tournament.

🔼 Serve-A-Thon. Wichita State student-athletes, coaches, and staff dedicated themselves to serving the local community as part of the third annual Serve-A-Thon. 213 volunteers spent time in the community, delivering meals, cooking pancakes at the Ronald McDonald House, helping at the Sedgwick County Zoo, and more.

🔼 Broadcast Partner. Audacy announced a multi-year extension of its broadcast partnership with Wichita State Athletics this week. 103.7 KEYN will air all men’s hoops and select women’s basketball games, while all baseball games will air on KHF Radio (97.5 FM / 1240 AM). Audacy will also produce and air weekly coaches’ podcasts throughout the year.
