🔼 Hall of Fame. The Class of 2024 Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame is official, and four former Shockers will join the ranks of sports legends to come through WSU. Each of the four will be honored later next year with an induction ceremony, but for now, let’s learn a bit more about the Class of 2024 before their official enshrinement.

⚾️ Charlie Giaudrone played baseball for the Shockers from 1989-92 as a four-year starting pitcher. He made 61 appearances on the mound, 49 of which were starts, and finished his career with a 31-7 record and 2.69 ERA.

Giaudrone was also a member of three College World Series teams and was the winning pitcher in the ‘89 regional championship game to send the team to the CWS. He closed out his career with the Shockers as a National Academic Athlete of the Year and was named First Team all-Midwest Region.

🏀 Alex Harden played both guard and forward for Shocker women’s basketball team from 2011-15 and racked up quite the numbers during her time playing at the CKA. In 133 games, Harden accumulated 1,708 points, 278 steals, 436 assists and 113 blocks. A true all-around player.

She made her presence known as a defender, earning three all-MVC Defensive Team and two MVC Defensive Player of the Year awards. Harden holds the single season steals record (108) and helped lead her team to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

⛳️ Taryn Torgerson is one of the greatest Shocker women’s golf athletes to come through the program. A member of the team from 2014-18, she took home an individual AAC title in 2018 after carding a course-record 8-under par. She also helped the team back-to-back MVC championships and was a three-time all-conference selection.

Wrapping up her playing career as a Shocker, Torgerson finished with a multitude of entries in the record books including career tournament titles (6), lowest career stroke average (75.55), lowest single season stroke average (73.26) and lowest 54-hole stroke average (226.64).

🥎 Cacy Williams was a member of the Shocker softball team from 2014-16, and made her name known in the time on the diamond. In 117 career games at Wichita State, Williams had a career batting average of .360, racked up 182 hits and blasted 35 home runs.

She was named the 2014 and 2016 MVC Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-Conference in each of her three seasons on the team. Williams also finished with one of the best individual seasons ever for the Shockers in 2014 when she hit .424 with 16 homers, 47 RBIs and held an .812 slugging percentage.

The 2024 Class of the Wichita State Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame is one to certainly behold, and soon, all of Shocker Nation will get to give them a proper celebration for all the success they achieved in their time as members of the Black and Gold.
