🔼 Keep Rohling On. After a pair of hard-fought matches at CKA, Shocker volleyball came away 1-1 on the weekend against North Texas. Improving to 11-3 in the AAC, the Black and Gold have a firm grasp on second place in the West and sit just two matches back of first.

The first matchup of the weekend saw the Shockers take a 3-1 victory with Sophia Rohling joining the 1,000-kill club after recording 18 of them on Friday. Then on Saturday, the team came away with the first two sets of the match, but were unable to finish the job and fell in five sets. Across both matches, the Shockers held the advantage in hitting percentage, but will now shift focus for the second half of the homestand as they welcome UTSA to The Roundhouse.

🔼 That’s A Wrap. As Shocker men’s tennis wrapped up play for the fall, two student-athletes finished the weekend with an undefeated singles record. Alejandro Jacome and Kristof Minarik each recorded a perfect 3-0 record across the team’s three days, ending on a high note heading into the offseason.

🗣️ "We played tough and saw a lot of growth from the beginning of the fall semester to now. Our guys got to have a great experience and play some tough competition and will help us greatly going into the spring." - head coach Darragh Glavin

🔼 Fall Classic. Following a game one tie on Friday, Team Yellow came out with a pair of convincing victories to take home the 2023 Shocker World Series title. With the annual event finished, the team will enter into the offseason to prepare for 2024’s season opener.

🔼 Jumping Right In. As the Shocker women’s team opens up the regular season today, the squad will jump right into it in head coach Terry Nooner’s first action as they face off against a top 25 team in Oklahoma on the road. In the three-game history, the Shockers have come away with one win.

After sneaking a peek at what’s to come from the exhibition against Missouri Southern State, look for Tre’Zure Jobe and Salese Blow to be among the team’s leaders on the court this season.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

Starting Off Strong. Shocker basketball is officially back, and in recent history, the season’s first tipoff has resulted in many happy fans within Shocker Nation.

Our question today—do you know how many consecutive season-opening wins the men’s and women’s basketball teams have combined for?

Think you got it? Scroll on down to the bottom of this email for the answer!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

With women’s basketball on the road for their season opener, the Shocker men’s hoops team will get the honor to open up the first official game of the team’s 117th season at Charles Koch Arena against Lipscomb. Head coach Paul Mills will be at the head of the bench for the first time as the Shockers look to pick up its 28th season-opening win since 1992.

Big man Kenny Pohto returns to the CKA as last season’s sole returning starter as a host of new Shockers look to join him on the court. Dalen Ridgnal, Isaac Abidde and Quincy Ballard are all new pieces at Mills’ disposal and should see significant minutes for the team.

The Shockers’ opponent is coming off one of its best seasons, achieving 20+ wins for the first time in five seasons, and nearly taking the ASUN conference. Luckily for Wichita State, the Shockers have heavy statistics in their favor when it comes to opening day. They have won 75% of season openers all-time and are 19-1 since the CKA’s renovation in 2003.
