🏀 Men’s basketball preview
👟 Indoor season is upon us
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Shocker men’s basketball is 6-1 for the second straight season as the team returns home to open the month of December against Alcorn State tonight at 6:30 p.m. WSU will look to improve to 7-1 for the 4th time since 2017 as the team looks to bounce back from the ESPN Events Invitational championship game. The Shockers enter tonight’s matchup ranked 29th nationally in turnovers per game (9.7), 31st in defensive rebounds per game (28.86) and 32nd in free throws made per game (18.6).

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Season’s Greetings. The indoor schedule is set for the Wichita State track and field team as the Shockers open their season at home with the Shocker Multi. WSU's multi-event athletes will compete in the heptathlon and pentathlon to begin the 2024-25 indoor track and field season. The remainder of the team will participate in the annual Black vs. Yellow Intrasquad meet on Friday before launching their season at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Jan. 17.

🔼 Career Nights. Wichita State women’s basketball’s Princess Anderson and Jayla Murray each put up a career-high 17 points in the Shockers' 74-45 win over Prairie View A&M on Monday night in Charles Koch Arena. WSU also got it done on the defensive end, holding Prairie View A&M to just 45 points, their lowest-scoring game this season, as the Panthers shot just 16-for-59 (.271) from the field.

🔼 Clicking At The Right Time. Shocker women’s volleyball is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 and will play SMU, which is seeded second in the region, at 7 p.m. Thursday. A big reason for the team’s success is setter Izzi Strand. She guided the Shockers through a tough non-conference schedule. She kept them near the top of the AAC despite an inconsistent offense. In the AAC Championship, she directed a low-error attack to sweeps of Tulsa, top-seeded USF and Florida Atlantic while hitting .215 and averaging 12.33 kills a set.

🗣️ "Things are clicking from all aspects – the volleyball part of it, the team chemistry part of it. We proved we can compete at a high level, and we know how to do it." - Emerson Wilford
