Shocker Brew 12/18: Getting Loud

Today, a pair of Shocker basketball recaps

Good morning! We’re still not over Shocker volleyball’s championship win. Relive the winning match with some highlights from the program’s first national postseason championship.

What are we mixing into today’s Brew?

🏀 Shocker men’s basketball got it done
⚾️ New addition to the Class of 2024
🌾 And much, much more!

Shocker men’s basketball got a huge stop as time expired to escape with a 69-68 victory over SIU at Charles Koch Arena. The win marks Wichita State’s eighth win of the season and extends the team’s undefeated home win streak to six.

After sitting out for 10 games due to NCAA transfer rules, Ronnie DeGray III made his long-awaited debut for the Shockers with two points, four rebounds, and four assists and was a part of the key play to seal the win. Xavier Bell and Colby Rogers finished as the leading scorers on the night with 20 points apiece as the only players to have double-digit scoring nights.

Next up, the Shockers will head to Kansas City, MO, to take on in-state foe, Kansas State on Dec. 21.

🔼 Road Test. Shocker women’s basketball jumped out to a halftime lead behind a productive offense but was unable to close it out down the stretch in a 72-65 loss to Missouri State.

Wichita State scored its most first-half points since the Nov. 20 win over Omaha and second-most all season, claiming a 39-33 lead at halftime. They were able to do so by forcing 15 first-half turnovers that turned into 22 points. Salese Blow and Daniela Albies led the team in scoring, each with 18 points.

🔼 Loud and Proud. It’s about to get even louder at The Roundhouse. The Wichita State cheer team is set to host their annual cheer team alumni game on February 4, when the Wichita State women's basketball team hosts East Carolina.

The streak continues. Shocker men’s basketball picked up another win on the season on Saturday against Southern Illinois. Our question today is—how many games did the Shockers extend their win streak against SIU to?
