Shocker Brew 12/20: Taming the Wild

Today, a letter from the AD and previewing the Shockers' matchup against Kansas State

Good morning! Shocker Nation, it’s time to save the date! Wichita State baseball is hosting its First Pitch Banquet on Feb. 10th to kick off the 2024 season.

What are we mixing into today’s Brew?

✏️ Letter From The AD
🏀 Previewing the matchup against Kansas State
🌾 And much, much more!

As 2023 winds to a close, Wichita State Athletic Director Kevin Saal penned a letter to all of Shocker Nation that covers a variety of program achievements, exciting things happening in Wichita, what’s ahead for Shocker Athletics and much more.

🔼 Feeling Wild. Shocker men’s basketball is getting ready for the first of two in-state battles as the team prepares to take on Kansas State on Dec. 21. Both teams will come into the matchup with an 8-3 record while the Shockers are riding high after a close win over Southern Illinois.

The Shockers will be led by the 1-2 guard combo of Colby Rogers and Xavier Bell (averaging 17.3 ppg and 14.9 ppg respectively) while Quincy Ballard has done a great job protecting the rim with 2.45 blocks per game, 10th best in the nation.

🔼 Con-Grads! There was yet again cause for celebration at the Charles Koch Arena as Wichita State had 11 of its student-athletes graduate earlier this December. Among them were track and field’s Destiny Masters, volleyball’s Brylee Kelly and women’s basketball’s Trajata Colbert.

🔼 Rogers’ First. The Shocker’s leading scorer Colby Rogers earned himself his first career AAC Honor Roll selection following his performance against SIU. Rogers scored 20 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc and added six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Taming the cats. Wichita State will take on Kansas State this week for its first of two battles for the state of Kansas. Our question today: do you know how many wins the Shockers have against the Wildcats all-time?
