Shocker Brew: 2/14: WSU MBB Embodies Rise N Grind

It wasn't the cleanest play ever, but the Shockers MBB team got it done, winning three in a row with a dub over UTSA.

Good morning, Shocker Nation! Wichita State MBB (14-10, 4-7 AAC) won its third straight game, defeating UTSA 69-64 on Wednesday. The Shockers didn't look great doing it, but they sure did in the game's decisive minutes. They had a dominant rebounding performance and accurate foul shooting in the second half. They also made 7 of 15 three-pointers.

"We felt like our best would win at the end," forward Harlond Beverly said.

WSU led 57-56 with 5:12 to play when the squad started making plays that reminded Beverly of November and December. The Shockers started the season 8-1 and closed out games with poise and good foul shooting.

Duncan is a sophomore outfielder who transferred to WSU after one season at Golden West Community College, where he hit .325 with eight doubles and 23 stolen bases. He earned all-conference and conference Gold Glove honors as a centerfielder.
