The Shockers needed a late-game hero and Max Kaufer answered the call! With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Kaufer yanked a hanging curveball into the left field corner for a go-ahead RBI double, scoring Owen Washburn to lift Wichita State baseball past Omaha, 3-2, at Eck Stadium. Washburn had a big day at the plate with three hits, a solo home run, and two runs scored. Caleb Reed (2-0) was masterful in relief, retiring the final 13 Omaha batters he faced across five scoreless innings, striking out five. The Shockers improve to 7-2 and continue the series against Omaha today at 3:05 p.m. CT.

Wichita State men’s basketball got it done with an 88-82 win over Memphis last night! Kenyon Giles had a monster night with 22 points and six rebounds, while Karon Boyd added 14 points. Will Berg posted a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Dillon Battie (12) and Emmanuel Okorafor (11) rounded out the Shockers who finished in double digits.

The Shockers have two regular-season games to go: at UTSA on March 1 at 7 p.m. and home vs. Florida Atlantic on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m.

Wichita State women’s basketball closed on a 22-13 fourth-quarter surge to knock off UAB 60-54 on Wednesday night, matching last season's conference win total with their fourth conference victory. Treasure Thompson was dominant with a season-high 19 points, five rebounds, and three blocks, while Abby Cater recorded WSU's first double-double of the season with 18 points and a career-high 10 boards. Jaida McDonald tied her D-I career high with 12 points, and Diamond Richardson dished a career-high seven assists. Up next: at Tulane on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The hot stretch has included some major highlights: freshman Kinzey Woody smashed a walk-off grand slam for her first career home run, and Jade Sanders tossed the program's 22nd no-hitter against Creighton, striking out 10. The Shockers will face Drake twice, Missouri twice, and Miami (OH) once to close out the non-conference slate before American Conference play begins.
