πŸ”Ό Road Dubs = Best Dubs. Wichita State MBB snapped a four-game losing streak with a 66-58 road win at Charlotte Tuesday night.

The Shockers were down a pair of starters in Justin Hill and Harlond Beverly, who both missed the game with injuries. A pair of double-doubles from Corey Washington and Quincy Ballard powered the Shockers. Washington scored a team-high 21 points to go with 10 rebounds on 9-of-15 shooting, while Ballard put up 12 points and 13 boards. It's the third time the duo has posted double-doubles in the same game this season.

πŸ”Ό Who Runs the World? Girls (Thanks, Beyonce). Wichita State is back in Charles Koch Arena to face Florida Atlantic on this National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Tipoff is tonight at 6 p.m. CT. Wichita State leads the all-time series 2-1, winning the last two straight against the Owls. Last season, the teams split the regular season 1-1 with each team winning on the road before the Shockers took down FAU in the first round of the AAC Tournament.

πŸ€ : SCOUTING REPORT

πŸ”Ό A Tale of Two Teams. Wichita State Baseball and Softball are linked more than usual as the season nears. Expectations are high for both and to get there, both will likely score runs in different ways than in 2024.

Shocker Softball, picked first in the AAC coaches poll, opens the season on Friday in the GCU Kickoff Classic in Phoenix with games against Northern Illinois and Grand Canyon. Shocker Baseball, second in the AAC poll, opens on Feb. 14 to start a series at McNeese State.

For softball, the status of favorite acknowledges the program's recent success – five regional appearances since 2016 – and a healthy number of returners compared to other AAC teams. Baseball hasn't played in an NCAA regional since 2013, but returns five of its top seven hitters. The Shockers (32-29, 15-12) also advanced to the AAC title game before losing to Tulane.

πŸ”Ό Home Court Advantage. The Wichita State women's tennis team takes on Oral Roberts in its home opener today at 1 p.m. CT. The Shockers are 2-4 on the year with wins over Wyoming and Kansas State. Now in their 16th season under the guidance of head coach, Colin Foster, WSU went 13-10 in dual matches last season and was 4-2 in neutral-site matches. Under Foster, Wichita State is 10-5 home openers, and the squad has won three of the last four.

πŸ”Ό This Is Their Lane. The Wichita State women's bowling team defeated Wright State 4-3 in a thrilling best-of-seven Baker match to secure the program's first tournament win as an NCAA program at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite at Shrewsbury Lanes.

The win is Wichita State's 248th tournament championship in program history. The Shockers also won the Mid-States Championship earlier this season, though the competition was classified as an exhibition.

🎳 : FULL RUNDOWN

πŸ”Ό Strokes of Genius. Juniors Brooklyn Benn and Mackenzie Wilson captured a pair of top-ten individual finishes to lead the Wichita State women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Texas State Invitational on Tuesday afternoonβ€”the squad’s best finish in any tournament this season. The Black and Yellow finished with a total score of 915, 51 strokes over par.

Competing as an individual, Lara Stifter put up her highest finish of year, taking 42nd place.

⛳️ : MORE DETAILS

πŸ”Ό Yes Way, Jose. Jose Miguel Ramirez's sixth-place finish led the Wichita State men's golf team as they tied for tenth place in the Los Vaqueros Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. The Shockers tied for tenth with UTRGV with a total score of 912.

Ramirez was the only Shocker to finish top 25 in the tournament field, finishing tied for sixth. He birdied 11 holes, finishing even par for the tournament with a score of 216. He climbed as high as third place on the leaderboard in round two before ultimately finishing sixth.

πŸ”Ό It Was … Well … Destiny. Chalk another one up for NGWSD! Wichita State's Destiny Masters claimed her first AAC award of the season, earning AAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week recognition. This is Masters' third career AAC weekly award but first during an indoor season, making her the first female Shocker since Sidney Sapp in 2020 to claim an AAC indoor weekly honor.

Masters put up a conference-leading pentathlon score of 4,083 points to finish eighth in a stacked field at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational. She tied for the best high jump clearance of the day, jumping 1.76m/5'9.25" and remains the AAC leader in the event. She threw a personal-best 13.64m/44'9" in the shot put to move up to ninth in the conference.
