🔼 Locked It Down. Wichita State men’s hoops locked down defensively in the second half to beat Charlotte 74-64, this week, holding the 49ers to their lowest score and worst shooting in conference play. After Charlotte scored 104 points against WSU in their January meeting, the Shockers adjusted at halftime to force the 49ers into 20 misses on 30 second-half shots, including 8-of-9 from three-point range.

Karon Boyd and Dre Kindell harassed Charlotte's Dezayne Mingo into just two assists after his 10-assist performance in January, while the physical defense generated 15 turnovers and limited Charlotte to zero second-half assists.

Next up: Wichita State faces Tulane on the road on Sunday at 1 p.m.

🔼 Home Opener. Wichita State baseball opens the 2026 season Feb. 13 against Northern Colorado at Eck Stadium with a roster built on experience and redemption. Coach Brian Green brought in 16 portal transfers, including five junior college All-Americans and several Division I starters like shortstop Alex Ulloa (115 games at FIU) and catcher Max Kaufer (84 games at Texas A&M/South Carolina), emphasizing college experience over potential. Junior Brady Hamilton, coming off a strong Cape Cod League summer, gets the opening-day start on the mound as the Shockers embrace a "Something to Prove" mantra with an older, more competitive locker room.

🔼 On The Court. Wichita State women's tennis (4-3) hosts a Friday doubleheader against Nebraska (5-1) at 11 a.m. and Abilene Christian (3-2) at 5 p.m. at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. The Shockers are riding high after sweeping Iowa State and Iowa last weekend. First-year head coach Jacob Eddins has WSU off to a solid start, including a recent victory over No. 45-ranked Maria Alberto Villar, the eighth-highest ranked win in program history.

🔼 On Shocker Softball. Wichita State softball associate head coach Elizabeth Economon discusses the Shockers' season-opening tournament in Texas, on the latest RoundHouse podcast. Economon, entering her ninth season as hitting coach, breaks down how newcomers like Johnna Schroeder and Mackenzie Rooney have adapted and where returners Jodie Epperson and Brookelyn Livanec fit into the 2026 lineup. The Shockers, picked third in the preseason coaches poll, open the season today against Mississippi State (12:30 p.m.) and Baylor (5:30 p.m.) before wrapping up the tournament Sunday against New Mexico.

🔼 Match Time. Wichita State men's tennis (2-5) faces a doubleheader today in Norman, taking on Oral Roberts at 9:30 a.m. before battling No. 10 Oklahoma at 1 p.m. The Shockers are a perfect 26-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles but haven't beaten the Sooners since 2003, losing 17 straight. The home opener against UTSA follows on Sunday at 10 a.m.
