🌾 ONE BIG THING

The Basketball Tournament, better known as TBT and $1 million winner-take-all event, announced today that Wichita will serve as one of the regional and quarterfinal locations for the 2024 event, hosted by Visit Wichita and Wichita State University. The AfterShocks, a Wichita State alumni team, will return as the featured team in the eight-team Wichita Regional. Commitments for the 2024 AfterShocks roster currently include Conner Frankamp and Markis McDuffie. The 2024 Wichita Regional will be played at The Roundhouse from July 20-24, and TBT's quarterfinal game in Wichita will take place on July 30.

🗣️ "This marks the fifth summer TBT has come to Wichita, and it's an annual reminder of the passion and excitement the city of Wichita has for basketball and the Shockers. We look forward to putting on a great show once again in 2024." - Brad Pittman, Senior Associate Athletic Director

🔼  Heading Back Home. Despite finishing the game on a 12-2 run and winning the fourth quarter, 22-12, Wichita State women’s basketball was unable to come away with the win and fell 79-57 to South Florida. Three Shockers finished in double figures with Salese Blow, Sierra Morrow and Jayla Murray all putting up 11 points apiece, Blow's 10th -consecutive game in double figures. Daniela Abies finished with a game-high eight rebounds and DJ McCarty scored the most points in a game since the new year. The Shockers will return home to take on Tulsa on Saturday at the Charles Koch Arena.

🔼  Bringing In More. Following Shocker Volleyball’s NIVC Championship season, head coach Chris Lamb announced the eight new student-athletes set to join the team for the 2024 season. Outside hitter Alyssia Gonzales and setter Sarah Musial have enrolled for the spring semester while the remaining six recruits will join the team in the fall before the start of the season.

🔼 The Roundhouse, A Feature. After falling to the hands of last year’s Final Four participant, the Shockers continue to learn how a couple of bounces can affect the outcome of a season. Florida Atlantic coach Dusty May can sympathize as his teams went through similar struggles in close games before last season's magical run. Wichita State’s level of play can be quite high, high enough to play well on the road and high enough to force the opposition to raise its level, but closing out a game has been a consistent struggle.
