After missing his first couple of games in 44 years, a touching tribute was given to the voice of the Shockers, Mike Kennedy, during the broadcast of the Shockers’ matchup against Charlotte. 🌾 ONE BIG THING

Three Shockers from the diamond earned AAC Weekly Honor Roll selections from their performances on the field. Softball’s Bailey Urban wrapped up her tournament in Puerto Vallarta with a .455 batting average, a home run and six RBI. Her efforts also landed her on the PV College Challenge All-Tournament Team alongside teammate CC Wong. Shocker baseball had two players, Camden Johnson and Daniel Zang who earned the weekly honor. Johnson made his 2024 debut impactful — finishing 8-15 at the plate with seven RBI in the three-game series. Zang completed his Black and Gold debut from the mound with six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Ready For The Hurricane. Shocker men’s basketball will open a two-game homestand tonight for a rematch with Tulsa at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. Wichita State leads the series with Tulsa, 77-64, and is 12-3 against the Golden Hurricane since joining the AAC. Harlong Beverly comes into the game having scored in double figures in six of the last nine contests. He’s currently averaging 11.9 points per game on 47% shooting. The Shocker’s leading scorer, Colby Rogers, has made a shot from beyond the arc in all but one game this season and leads the conference in total 3-pointers made.

🔼  Pledge For Dingers. This year, Shocker Nation will get the unique opportunity to support Wichita State student-athletes by making a Home Run Pledge. Fans can pledge to donate their own customized dollar amount for every home run that Wichita State Baseball and/or Wichita State Softball hit in 2024. To participate, select a dollar amount that includes $1, $5, $10, $25, $50 or $100. At the end of the season, donors will be charged their pledge amount multiplied by the total number of home runs hit by WSU players.

🔼  More Games, More Fun. Shocker softball has added a pair of midweek games to the schedule after having four games canceled due to weather through the first two weeks of the season. Wichita State will host the Iowa Hawkeyes for its home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilkins Stadium, and the Shockers will hit the road to face Texas A&M Commerce on April 24 at 2:00 p.m. The Shockers are in the process of filling a few more open dates here in the coming weeks to replace the lost games to weather.

🔼 Repping The Nation. Three of Shocker volleyball’s impact players will have a chance to represent our country for the USAVolleyball’s Collegiate Team. Brooklyn Leggett, Morgan Stout and Emerson Wilford are headed to the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team Open Program for a chance to be selected for the national team.
