🌾 ONE BIG THING

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Letter From The AD. Wichita State AD Kevin Saal thanked the Shocker faithful in an open letter celebrating the program's resurgence under Coach Paul Mills. The Shockers hit 20 wins for the first time since 2019-20, finished second in the American (their highest since the 2021 title), and packed Charles Koch Arena for the final four home games, each one the largest crowd of the year. Mills has increased the win total every season at WSU, just as he did during his run at Oral Roberts that included a Sweet 16 appearance. His 55 wins through three seasons rank third among all 27 coaches in program history. With fan energy surging and the foundation in place, Saal says the goal is simple: make this feeling the norm every March.

🔼 Runs, Runs, Runs. The Shockers put on an absolute offensive clinic at Eck Stadium, demolishing Butler 27-3 in seven innings for their most runs in a game since a 31-2 win over Howard in 2002. Wichita State scored in every inning, the first time that's happened since 1999. Max Kaufer blasted two more homers to push his season total to an eye-popping 11 through just 18 games, finishing 3-for-4 with four RBI and four runs scored. Jaden Gustafson matched with 3-for-4 and four RBI, while Owen Washburn extended his multi-hit streak to 10 games. Matthew Cuccias (2-0) earned the win with six strikeouts over five innings, and Ayden Benson closed with two scoreless frames.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Associate men’s basketball head coach Kenton Paulino joins The RoundHouse podcast to break down the No. 2 seed Shockers' (21-10) path through the American Championship in Birmingham. Topics include how sophomore Dillon Battie stayed locked in during limited minutes before his breakout, why coach Paul Mills pushes Dre Kindell hard in practice to channel his energy, WSU's defensive scheme designed to limit three-point shooting, and the dominant 11-minute closing stretch that sealed the Senior Day win over FAU.

🔼 On Deck. Wichita State softball (11-10, 1-2) welcomes UAB (12-13, 0-3) to Wilkins Stadium for a three-game conference home-opening series (Friday 6 p.m., Saturday 4 p.m., Sunday noon with all on ESPN+). WSU is looking to bounce back after getting shut out in back-to-back games at East Carolina for the first time since 2018, while also waiting to finish a suspended game at No. 21 Oklahoma State on April 8; the Shockers were leading 8-3 in the bottom of the seventh when weather halted play. Full preview here.

🔼 On The Road. The red-hot Shockers (12-3) take their 10-match winning streak out west for a pair of matches: vs. Arkansas State and No. 62 Long Beach State today. WSU is the conference’s highest-ranked team and enters on a roll after knocking off No. 42 Rice for the program's highest-ranked win since 2019. The Shockers have won the doubles point in 11 straight matches, with the Wang/Roselli duo ranked No. 12 nationally. After this trip, WSU doesn't play again until hosting South Florida on March 27.

🔼 Tee Off. Wichita State women’s golf travels to Arizona for the Red Rocks Invitational (March 13-15), hosted by Northern Arizona in a 12-team field that includes Colorado, Gonzaga, and Grand Canyon. WSU carried its strong fall into the spring with a T5 finish at the Rio Verde Invitational, the team's fifth top-five showing in six tournaments this season. Mackenzie Wilson leads the squad with a 75.2 stroke average, followed closely by Kayla Van de Ven at 75.6. The lineup also features transfer Manon Guille, AAC All-Conference honoree Kate Tilma (who holds the program's all-time best career stroke average at 75.07), and true freshman Magdalena Domine, who will make her first career start after tying for 22nd as an individual in her collegiate debut.
