Good morning, Shocker Nation! Wichita State women's tennis player Giorgia Roselli was named the AAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Roselli, a sophomore from Pescara, Italy, in her Shocker career.

Roselli had an excellent performance on the court for the Shockers this week. She went a combined 5-0 across singles and doubles, including a perfect 3-0 doubles mark with partner Xin Tong Wang. Additionally, Roselli and Wang were ranked as the No. 66 doubles pairing in NCAA Division I in Tuesday's ITA doubles rankings.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Texas Twofer. The Wichita State softball team spends the week in the Lone Star State with a midweek at Texas State and then a conference series at UTSA. The Shockers looks to build on recent momentum as they secured their first conference series, defeating North Texas in the final two games of the weekend. Tonight’s game at Texas State begins at 5 p.m. CT.

🔼 No Nonsense Newbies. Wichita State catcher Gabby Scott hit her first college home run on Sunday, providing one of the bright spots of a weekend highlighted by Shocker freshmen. After dropping Friday's opener 8-6, WSU handled the Mean Green 7-2 and 9-3. Add in last week's 7-3 win at Kansas and the Shockers (13-13, 2-4 AAC) have won three of four with newcomers playing a lead role.

That is especially true in the circle, where Ava Sliger and Ryley Nihart are stepping forward.

🔼 Going Four It. Wichita State enters the 2025 Conference USA Women's Bowling Championship at Colonial Lanes as the #4 seed in the 10-team field. The Shockers will take on #5-seed Arkansas State in Round 2 on Thursday, March 20 beginning at 9 am CT, with live streaming of the event available on ESPN+ here.

The double-elimination tournament begins today with Round 1, comprised of two play-in matches, and runs through Sunday, March 23, when a champion is crowned. The winner of the tournament receives the CUSA's automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Bowling Championship, which features 11 conference automatic qualifiers and eight at-large selections.

🔼 The Bell Tolls For Thee. A whirlwind 48 hours for Wichita State saw its season officially come to a close Tuesday night at Oklahoma State, 89-79, in the first round of the NIT. The Shockers finish the season at 19-15 overall. It was the squad’s first postseason appearance since 2021 and first NIT bid since 2019.

Xavier Bell became the 49th Shocker to eclipse 1,000 career points on a three-pointer early in the first half. He came into the game just one point away from the 1K club. He finished with a game-high 24 points in his final collegiate game, his eighth 20-point game of the season.

🔼 Meteoric Rise. The Wichita State men's tennis team escaped the UAB Blazers on Tuesday afternoon at Hoover Met Tennis Courts, winning 4-1.

The Shockers (7-8) have now won back-to-back matches and recorded a win on the same day they climbed into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) top 75 for the first time since 2022.

🔼 Early Birds. The Wichita State men's golf team finished 11th in the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate on Tuesday evening at Tucson Country Club. The Shockers' 11th-place finish came with a score of 913, 49 strokes over par, and with round scores of 292, 314, and 307.

The Shockers got off to an excellent start in round one on Monday morning, finishing tied for second through the opening nine holes. However, they were unable to replicate that success the rest of the tournament.

🔼 Eight Out of Ten Athletes Agree … These Numbers Are Impressive. The No. 67 Wichita State women’s tennis team has a road match against South Florida this morning at 9 a.m. CT. The Shockers are 9-6 on the year with wins over Wyoming, Kansas State, Oral Roberts, Kentucky, Abilene Christian, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, Princeton, and Tulane. The Shockers have won three matches in a row, with the last two being wins over ranked opponents. After starting 1-4 Wichita State has won eight of their last ten.
