Shocker Brew 3/2: Tee Off

Wichita State men’s hoops won its fifth straight and 20th of the season last night, defeating UTSA, 84-67 as Kenyon Giles became the program’s all-time single-season three-point record holder! Giles finished with 28 points, while Dillon Battie added 13, Will Berg and TJ Williams added 10 apiece, and Karon Boyd tallied seven. Berg finished with 12 rebounds for the double-double.
The Shockers will close out the regular season on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Charles Koch Arena against Florida Atlantic. We’ll see you there.

What a performance from Wichita State track & field! Junior Josh Parrish earned Most Valuable Performer honors after scoring 22.5 points across two days in Birmingham, tallying podium finishes in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles. The Shocker men finished just 2.5 points behind South Florida (134.5-132), tying their best-ever American Conference Indoor finish and scoring the most team points since 2020. Twin brother Jason Parrish added a bronze in the 60 meters, Jelese Alexander placed second in the high jump with a personal-best 1.84m, and Asher Buggs-Tipton claimed silver in the triple jump with a 14-centimeter personal best.

🔼 Four Straight. The Shockers are on a roll! Wichita State returned home to Coleman Tennis Complex and knocked off ranked Nebraska 5-2, extending their winning streak to four matches. The win marked the Shockers’ first victory over a ranked Power Four opponent since Jan. 24, 2016. Next: vs. No. 24 Oklahoma State on March 8 at 11 a.m. CT.

🔼 Saturday Doubleheader. Wichita State baseball (9-3) split a Saturday doubleheader with Omaha at Eck Stadium, winning Game 1 by a score of 5-2 before dropping the finale 15-8. In the opener, Jayson Jones delivered the big blow with a two-run gap double in the fifth inning, Amar Tsengeg (1-0) earned the win in relief, and Brady Pacha nailed down his first career save. In Game 2, the Shockers led 8-6 heading into the seventh but Omaha erupted for nine unanswered runs. Up next: West Georgia visits Eck Stadium on Friday, March 6, with first pitch at 3:05 p.m. CT.

🔼 Tee Off. Wichita State men's golf tees it up at the Country Club at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La., today and tomorrow for the Golden Nugget Invitational, hosted by Lamar. It's the Shockers' third tournament in as many weeks to open the spring season. After the Golden Nugget, the Shockers have nearly a month off before heading to the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on March 31.
