📈 STOCK UP

🔼 From the Hardwood to the Gridiron. Bob Long built one of the most unique athletic careers in Shocker history by starting on the basketball court and ending up in the NFL.

Long, 83, died on March 16 at his home in Brookfield, Wisconsin. He played seven seasons as a receiver in the NFL, including for Green Bay from 1964-67. The Packers won three straight NFL titles, capped by Super Bowl I and II, during that time.

He was inducted in the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame in 1981.

🔼 Shockers Were Loaded For Bear. Power at the plate propelled Wichita State to a 6-1 win over the Central Arkansas Bears on Tuesday evening at Wilkins Stadium.

Sami Hood led the Shockers with a pair of hits, including her fourth home run of the season. Camryn Compton belted her fourth home run over her last four games and Lauren Lucas extended her hit streak to 12.

🔼 Advantage Shockers. The Wichita State men's tennis team takes on UT Arlington at home today at 1 p.m. CT.

The Shockers are 8-9 and had their three-match win streak broken by UNLV on the road on Monday. WSU is 4-3 at home this season. The squad entered the ITA top 75 for the first time this season last Tuesday, debuting at No. 75. The Shockers surpassed last season's win total of five with a win on March 16 over Charlotte.

🔼 ICYMI ⏮️! The Wichita State women’s bowling team dropped its first match of the Conference USA Championship and then stormed back through the contender's bracket with seven straight wins to capture the program's first conference title on Sunday afternoon at Colonial Lanes.

With the win, Wichita State clinches the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament. The selection show will take place today at 3:00 pm CT.

🔼 Let’s Get Bowled Over … Together. Learning the NCAA regional destination for the Shockers bowling team is exciting enough, but you can do so around your fellow fans TODAY to make it even more so!

🔼 Baseball Blip. Not the result we wanted after many stellar plays by the Shockers baseball team tonight against Oklahoma State, but the squad is back at it this Friday against UAB at home at 6 p.m. CT.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 1998!

Wichita State softball has called the $1.3 million Wilkins Stadium home since the 1998 season. Before the enhancements to the stadium that were announced today, $90,000-worth of improvements were done in 2012-13. On March 17, 2015, the Shockers registered their first official sellout vs. the Oklahoma Sooners.
