๐ผ Vadakinโs Vision. The NCAA added women's bowling to its roster of sports in 1994. Gordon Vadakin immediately knew Wichita State needed to join. He kept the Power Point presentation he used that year to make his case to university officials.
Vadakin watched Wednesday's selection show on NCAA.com with the Shockers, coaches, staff and fans at the Champions Club in Charles Koch Arena. That was the scene he envisioned when he campaigned for NCAA status for more than 20 years.

๐ผ Letโs Be Bendy About Baseball. Wichita State's game against Newman on Tuesday, April 8, has been moved up to an 11:00 am CT first pitch as part of Kids Day in partnership with USD 259. The game was originally scheduled for a 6:00 pm CT first pitch.
We invite all season ticket holders to sit together in Field Box 3 for this game. This will also allow for a smoother seating experience as we accommodate the many students and school groups filling the stands. Thank you for your continued supportโlet's make it a great day for Shocker Baseball!

๐ผ No Bull-oney. The Wichita State softball team hosts the second place South Florida Bulls for a weekend series (Tonight | 6:00 PM CT, Saturday, March 29 | 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 30 | 12:00 PM) at Wilkins Stadium, March 28-30.
The Shockers are coming off a midweek slugfest vs. No. 2 Oklahoma, hitting 5 home runs and scoring 16 runs against the Sooners. The 16 runs were the most Oklahoma has allowed since June 3, 2019, in the WCWS when UCLA put 16 on the Sooners in the championship series.
Camryn Compton has hit six home runs over her last seven games. Lauren Lucas is riding a career-long 13-game hit streak. Lucas is hitting .517 (15-for-29) in AAC play.

๐ผ Two Peas in a Power Pod. Piggybacking on the post above, Lauren Lucas and Camryn Compton joined Wichita State softball as freshmen for the 2021 season. They've been through injuries, NCAA regionals, road trips, 163 wins, 405 home runs and much more.
As their fifth and final season together hits the halfway point, Compton is putting together a stretch they will remember fondly, both for the comeback story and the number of softballs flying over fences. Lucas, who watched her friend lose most of 2022 and all of 2024 to injury, is thrilled to watch the breakout.
"Cam and I have seen each other's highs and lows," Lucas said. "I've had a blast watching her crush the ball."
