🔼 How Grand. Wichita State baseball reached the 20-win mark for the fastest time since 2018, holding off a late Washburn rally for a 14-11 win at Eck Stadium in front of nearly 2,000 schoolchildren. Dominic Archila shined in his first career start, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, while Jaden Gustafson matched with five RBI of his own, capped by a mammoth grand slam in a five-run seventh that blew the game open.
Jayson Jones extended his hitting streak to 21 games with a double. Alex Ulloa provided one of the day's wildest moments by stealing home in the fifth inning. Heitaro Hayashi earned his first save of the season by striking out the final batter with the tying run on deck in the ninth. The Shockers (20-10, 4-2 American) opens a series against Tulane tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. CT.

🔼 Run Wild. Sophomore Elkana Kipruto earned his first American Conference weekly honor after a sensational outdoor debut at the Raleigh Relays, where he won the 5,000 meters with the No. 1 time in the nation and a program-record 13:35.77. The Kenyan native already claimed the American Conference indoor 5K title in late February and now leads both the conference and the country outdoors. The Shockers return to action tomorrow and Friday at the Friends Spring Open and Midwest Classic.

🔼 Staying Steady. Wichita State men’s tennis stayed in the national rankings for the fifth consecutive week at No. 63, tying their most team rankings in a season since 2022. The Shockers sit third among six ranked American Conference teams, behind Charlotte and Rice (No. 57) but ahead of Memphis, South Florida, and Tulsa. The Shockers own three ranked wins this season: over No. 38 Oklahoma State, No. 49 Nebraska, and No. 55 Charlotte. The Shockers next play at Drake on April 4.

🔼 Holding Firm. Wichita State women’s tennis remains No. 26 in the ITA rankings, their second-highest mark of the season, and continues to lead the American Conference ahead of Charlotte (No. 29) and Rice (No. 57). Wichita State has spent six weeks in the top 30 this season and boasts wins over six currently ranked teams, including three in the top 50 (No. 25 SMU, Kansas, Nebraska). The doubles duo of Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli climbed to No. 24, their sixth straight week in the top 25, while Theodora Chantava surged 34 spots to No. 90 in singles, the highest individual ranking by a Shocker this spring. Wichita State next faces Liberty on April 4 in Denton, Texas.
