Shocker Brew: 4/18: B-ball in Bahamas? We're Down

Shockers MBB is one of eight teams selected to compete in the 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, Nov. 26-28, in Paradise Islands, Bahamas.

Good morning, Shocker Nation! Wichita State MBB is one of eight teams selected to compete in the 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis early season tournament, Nov. 26-28, in Paradise Islands, Bahamas. The bracket will be announced at a later date.

This marks the 14th year for the Battle 4 Atlantis, and will be Wichita State's second trip there. The Shockers last competed in the Battle 4 Atlantis in 2016 when they went 1-2 and finished fourth.

A Mountainous Get. Wichita State officially announced the signing of Noah Hill to a financial aid agreement Wednesday afternoon.

Out of Wichita's prep powerhouse, Sunrise Christian Academy, Hill reclassified to the 2025 signing class, joining Tyrus Rathan-MayesPierre Couisnard Jr. and Keandre Kindell (JUCO).

Hill is rated the No. 188 prospect and 3rd-ranked player in the state of Kansas in the 2025 class rankings by 247Sports.

๐Ÿ”ผ Bring On the Hurricane. The fifth-seeded No. 58 Wichita State women's tennis team crushed the 12-seeded East Carolina Pirates in the 2025 AAC Championship opening round on Thursday afternoon at Leftwich Tennis Center, snapping its three-match losing streak.
 
Next up, the Shockers play the four-seed, No. 52 Tulsa, today at Noon CT.

๐Ÿ”ผ In the Immortal Words of Elle Woods: โ€œWhat, Like Itโ€™s Hard?โ€ The Shockers softball team swept Thursday's doubleheader at Tulsa by scores of 10-0 and 11-7 to secure the series at Collins Family Softball Complex. Wichita State (23-20-1, 11-8-1) recorded its fifth series win of the season.

๐Ÿ”ผ A Quarter For Your Thoughts. The eighth-seeded Wichita State men's tennis team knocked out the ninth-seeded UAB Blazers in the opening round of the American Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday afternoon at Leftwich Tennis Center.
 
The win for the Shockers was the first for Wichita State at the AAC Championship in the Darragh Glavin era.

๐Ÿ”ผ Kateโ€™s Killer Climb. Headlined by a top-ten finish by Kate Tilma, the Wichita State women's golf team finished eighth at the 2025 AAC Women's Golf Championship at Southern Hills Plantation Club.
 
Tilma was far and away the best Shocker at the Championship, finishing tied for seventh place on the individual leaderboard. In round two, the junior put together a field-best 67 score, jumping up 20 spots on the scoreboard into fourth place. Her second round was the best individual round score of any competitor in the entire tournament.

๐Ÿ”ผ Hard to Keep Track. The four Shocker distance runners who kicked off the three meets this week at the Bryan Clay Invitational yesterday will join the majority of the rest of the team in Eugene, Oregon, today for the Oregon Open and Oregon Team Invitational, which will run through tomorrow.

Another group of Shockers are staying close to home to compete at Kansas Wesleyan in the Coyote Challenge. Events run today and tomorrow in Salina, Kansas.

๐Ÿ”ผ Bit of a Blip. Florida Atlantic scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 9-2 win on Thursday night at FAU Baseball Stadium.
 
The Shockers (12-25, 4-9) faced a sizable deficit almost immediately when the Owls got an RBI single from Patrick Ward and a two-out grand slam off the bat of Nick Romano, staking FAU to a 5-0 lead against Wichita State starter Grant Adler (3-4).

The two teams are back at it tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. CT.
