Wichita State men's basketball will face Drake in the 2026 Hall of Fame Classic on Friday, December 18 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The Shockers are making their second appearance in the event in three years, having defeated Saint Louis in the 2024 edition. Drake is Wichita State's most-played opponent in program history — the two have met 152 times, with the Shockers owning a 104-48 all-time record against the Bulldogs.

🔼 National Recognition. Freshman Kinzey Woody has been named to the NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year Top 25, becoming just the second Shocker to earn the distinction, joining Addison Barnard in 2021. Woody is hitting .344 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI on the season, and in American Conference play, she leads the league in batting average (.470), hits (31), slugging percentage (1.015), and on-base percentage (.557). The list will be trimmed to 10 finalists on May 7, with the winner announced May 26.

🔼 On Deck. Wichita State softball extended its win streak to nine with a 5-2 midweek victory at Kansas City, courtesy of freshman Kinzey Woody's go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh. Kammie Smith extended her hitting streak to 12 games, while Ava Sliger (8-1) tossed two hitless innings to earn the win. Wichita State (28-15) heads to North Texas Friday for a crucial American Conference series, opening at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

🔼 Record Books Rewritten. Wichita State women's golf closed out a historic season with an eighth-place finish at the American Championship, tied for the second-best result all-time in program history, while Mackenzie Wilson broke the program record for career stroke average (75.22), surpassing the 75.55 mark set by Taryn Torgerson from 2014-18. Teammate Kate Tilma also topped the old record at 75.35, ranking second all-time. Freshman Magdalena Domine led the team on the individual leaderboard at T12, while the season as a whole produced 19 individual top-20 finishes and six top-five team finishes, both the most since 2017-18.
