From the AD: A letter that is intended to provide you with detailed information regarding the status and growth of our men's basketball program.
Good morning, Shocker Nation! From the AD: Men’s Basketball Update 👇🏼
On behalf of 270+ student-athletes and 100+ coaches/staff within Shocker Athletics, thank you for your support of our young people and programs. We cannot overstate our gratitude and appreciation as your provision and protection make our department-wide growth possible. Narrowing our focus, this letter is intended to provide you with detailed information regarding the status and growth of our men's basketball program.
Wichita desires, expects and deserves a nationally competitive (Top 25) Men's Basketball program that improves the city's economy, attracts visitors and contributes to a thriving community. The current era of college athletics brings unprecedented challenges, and our growth is directly tied to raising additional funds to compete in this new "NIL/Revenue Share" environment. Since January of 2023, privately funded NIL/Revenue Share resources to support men's basketball have grown 518% and Wichita State has developed a reputation of character and integrity in the NIL/Revenue Share environment.

🔼 Short ‘N’ Sweet. Due to expected inclement weather in Wichita on Friday, the Shockers women's tennis team has canceled its match against the Creighton Bluejays today. The squad will, however, still face North Texas at Noon at Wichita Country Club—the last for the No. 49 Shockers at home this year. Afterward, a special senior day ceremony will be held to honor senior Clara Whitaker.
The Shockers are 11-6 on the year. The squad has won five matches in a row, with two being wins over ranked opponents. After starting 1-4, Wichita State has won 10 of their last 12 matches.

🔼 Front-Loading On the Field. The Wichita State softball team makes its first trip to Birmingham for a conference series against UAB, today and tomorrow. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday with inclement weather in the forecast for Sunday.
With seven home runs over her last 10 games, Camryn Compton is definitely one to watch. She's already set career highs in home runs (8) and RBIs (28) this season through 35 games.

🔼 Vaulting Into Outdoor Season. Wichita State pole vault coach Aliyah Fertig and junior Arantxa Cortez join the RH podcast at the start of the outdoor track and field season. We discuss how Fertig's time as an athlete with coach Brooke Rasnick (a former Shocker vaulter) at Louisville led her into coaching and a spot on the WSU staff.
Cortez talks about how her background as a gymnast helps her vaulting and why she came to the United States to attend college and compete in the pole vault.
Fertig earned All-American honors five times in the pole vault at Louisville.
