Shocker Brew 4/6: Bounced Back

Plus: Softball takes the series win.

Good morning, Shocker Nation.

Wicihta State bowling pulled off an incredible comeback run through the elimination bracket to win the Arlington Regional and punch their ticket to a second straight NCAA Final Four. After a stunning opening-round loss to Newman, WSU rattled off five consecutive match wins, beating Bryant, avenging the Newman loss, then taking down top-seeded Louisiana Tech twice, including a dominant 4-0 sweep in the decisive best-of-seven.

Morgan Kline rolled a 257 and Aleesha Oden a 237 in a key traditional match against Louisiana Tech, while Paige Wagner's 222 helped spark the Newman rematch. Wichita State was the only non-top seed to win their regional and will face No. 1 Jacksonville State on Friday, April 10, in Ohio, alongside Arkansas State and Vanderbilt.

Wichita State dropped the doubles point for just the fourth time this season, but stormed back in singles as Theodora Chantava and Vichitraporn Vimuktananda built a quick 2-1 lead. With all four remaining matches going to three sets, Kristina Kudryavtseva rallied from a first-set loss to win, and Tatyana Nikolenko clinched the match with a clutch 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 victory at No. 6, her first match-clincher since last March. Kinzey Woody added a two-run homer, and Trinity Allen scored a career-high four runs on a 2-for-2 day with a double and two walks. Ryley Nihart went the distance, allowing just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts. Next up: The Shockers host Oklahoma State on Wednesday, April 8, including the completion of a suspended game from Stillwater at 5:15 p.m. followed by the regularly scheduled contest at 6 p.m.

🔼 The Right Spots. The latest RoundHouse feature breaks down how sophomore Ava Sliger silenced the bats with a zero-walk, four-hit complete game after the Shocker pitching staff gave up 14 hits the night before, leading WSU to a 7-1 series-evening win over Tulsa.
