Shocker Brew 4/17: Beat The Waves

Today, an AAC Championship update and previewing round two with the Cowgirls

Good morning! There’s been lots of celebrating for the Shockers so far this track and field season, but which reaction would you give if you were the one competing?

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

⛳️ AAC Championship update
🥎 Round two with the Cowgirls
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Through two rounds at the AAC Championship, Shocker women’s golf sits in eighth place as a team with two golfers among the top 15. Kate Tilma and Lauren Thiele each sit even after two days after identical rounds of 73 on the first day and 71 on the second to sit in a tie for 15th. The team finished day two at 16-over par with one day remaining to determine the individual champion.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Run It Back. Shocker baseball heads into a midweek matchup against Oral Roberts for a rematch. In the first game of the year between the two teams, the Shockers prevailed 3-1 thanks to solid pitching from Tyler Dobbs and solid plate appearances from Dayvin Johnson. Wednesday will represent the 75th all-time meeting between the Shockers and Golden Eagles, with Wichita State holding a 40-34 lead in the series.

🔼 Yellow Out. The Shockers will host Oklahoma State for Round II today at Wilkins Stadium. The Cowgirls rallied for an extra inning walk-off win in the first meeting this season on March 6 in Stillwater, but the Shockers two out of three last season, including both regular season matchups. Wichita State comes into the game ranked sixth nationally in home runs per game and 19th in slugging percentage, and pitcher Chloe Barber ranks fourth in the country in strikeouts per 7.0 innings.

🔼 Title Hunting. Shocker women’s tennis will head into the AAC Championship as the No. 7 seed on a journey for a conference title. Playing in Dallas, Texas, the Shockers earned a bye in the opening round and will face off against No. 10 Tulsa to kick off the postseason. The meeting marks the second consecutive season the Shockers have faced off with Tulsa in the opening round of the Championship and will be the second meeting between the Shockers and Golden Hurricane this season.

🔼 Beat The Waves. The Wichita State men's tennis team will be the No. 12 seed in the upcoming AAC Championship and is slated to face 5-seeded Tulsa on Thursday afternoon. The winner will advance to face off with the No. 4 seed Rice in the quarterfinals on Friday at 2 p.m.
