Today, a program-best showing at AAC Championships and a weekend series dub

Good morning! The tradition continues. Congratulations to Wichita State Bowling who earned its 11th ITC national championship!

What else are we mixing into today’s Brew?

⛳️ Program-best showing at AAC Championships
🥎 Weekend series dub
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Led by junior Michael Winslow, the Wichita State men's golf team put together its best finish in team history at the AAC Championship with a third-place team finish. The third-place finish for the Shockers breaks the previous team's best finish at the AAC Championship, which came in 2021. The Shockers finished with a team score of 842, just two strokes over par.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Series Dub. In a Sunday rubber match to decide the series, pitcher Chloe Barber stepped into the circle and delivered a complete game shutout to help earn the Shockers the series victory over UAB. Barber missed tying her single-game school record for strikeouts by one, finishing with 15. She allowed just three hits to go with five walks. At the plate, CC Wong had another 2-for-2 day with a walk, double, home run, three RBI and two runs scored. Taylor Sedlacek also homered to score two runners in the 5-0 win.

🔼 Rain, Win and Shine. Over the split-meet weekend, Shocker track and field picked up many top-10s and four wins. At the Kansas Relays, Iestyn Williams made his return by winning the 800m, Jenna Muma and Adam Rzentkowski swept the 1500m and Cesar Ramirez took home gold in the 3000m steeplechase. The Shockers wrapped the Michael Johnson Invitational with 10 top-10 finishes including Brady Palen’s second-place performance in the high jump.

🔼 Triple Threat. Wichita State women’s basketball head coach Terry Nooner announced the signing of three student-athletes after signing their National Letters of Intent. Taylor Jameson, Jasmine Peaks and Maimouna Sissoko are set to join the Shocker women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.

🔼 Fight To The Finish. After almost four hours of match play, the 74th-ranked and No. 7 seed Wichita State women's tennis fell 4-3 in the AAC Championship Quarterfinals to No. 2 seed and 43rd-ranked Charlotte. After securing the doubles point, Kristina Kudryavtseva and Giorgia Roselli earned points in singles play, but the Shockers were unable to get the match-clinching point elsewhere. The loss for the Shockers eliminates them from the tournament and ends their season.

🔼 Over in Carolina. Shocker baseball jumped out to a 7-0 lead in game one and a 3-0 lead in game two but allowed 11 unanswered runs in both games to drop both ends of a doubleheader to top 10-ranked East Carolina by scores of 11-7 and 11-4 on Saturday. Wichita State returns to action on Tuesday night to face off against Oklahoma in Norman.
