What else are we mixing into todayโ€™s Brew?

๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Shockers set for split-meet weekend
๐Ÿ€ Menโ€™s basketball adds new member
๐ŸŒพ โ€‹ And much, much more!

๐ŸŒพ ONE BIG THING

The Shockers will face off against the Mean Green of North Texas this weekend with a slightly altered schedule thanks to some uncooperative weather. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday followed by a Saturday game with the time to be determined.

There are only two weeks left of the regular season, and another big weekend awaits with conference standings implications when the two teams meet in Denton. North Texas is three games up on the Shockers in the standings, but Wichita State leads the all-time series with North Texas, 14-6.

๐Ÿ“ˆ STOCK UP

๐Ÿ”ผ Strong Start. Wichita State sent four runners to the Drake Relays and left with two Shocker all-time top-10 list times and four season bests. Lucy Ndungu recorded an almost full-minute personal best in the 5,000 meters, running 16:29.17, the seventh-fastest time in school history in her 5K season debut. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Jenna Muma and Miranda Dick finished 21st and 2nd , respectively. Muma recorded a personal best to improve her time at the No. 10 spot on the Shocker all-time list, clocking 10:35.25 in the first heat and Dick finished in 10:35.33 (SB) in the second heat.

๐Ÿ”ผ Next Up. Shocker menโ€™s basketball has inked AJ McGinnis to play for the team in the 2024-25 season. A native of Huntsville, Ala., McGinnis will be a senior on next season's team after spending the previous two seasons at Lipscomb and a year each at Cincinnati and UNC Greensboro. McGinnis started all 32 games this past season and posted 13.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game on 46.1 percent shooting from the field and 39.7 percent from beyond the arc.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธย "AJ is a welcome addition to our team next season because of his character and skill set. He is well-known as an elite shooter and has made timely game-winning shots throughout his collegiate career. AJ will be able to make an instant impact on both ends of the court. We are excited that he chose to finish his collegiate career as a Shocker." - Paul Mills, head coach

๐Ÿ”ผ Back At It. Shocker baseball returns to AAC play this weekend with a three-game home series against Tulane. Wichita State won two of three games against the Green Wave last season in New Orleans and will look to break its current losing streak at Eck Stadium.

๐Ÿ”ผ Island Time. Wichita State women's basketball is headed to the beach after announcing a 2024 U.S. Virgin Islands Foreign Tour from July 28 through August 2 this summer. The Shockers will arrive in St. Thomas on July 28 and play two games (opponents TBA), one on July 30 and another on July 31. The itinerary includes stops at Mountain Top, Drake's Seat, Magen's Bay, Fort Christian, Coral World, Coki Beach and more.
