The senior recorded the ninth-best mark in the nation with a leap of 2.17m/7”1.5’ in the high jump. Palen leads the conference by six centimeters after his first meet and will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Arkansas Spring Invitational this weekend.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Stellar Showing. Led by Aston Castillo's top-five performance, the Shocker men's golf team collected an excellent ninth-place finish in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Maricopa, Arizona. The Shockers finished in ninth place in Arizona among a strong tournament field with a team score of 849, 15 strokes under par.

🔼 Spat With The Sooners. After getting out to a slow start, Shocker baseball was unable to fight back in the midweek matchup against Oklahoma on its home field. Kam Durnin led Wichita State at the plate with three hits and the Shockers’ sole RBI of the night on a single that scored Lane Haworth. The team will look to bounce back on Wednesday night against Kansas at Eck Stadium at 6:00 pm.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Shocker baseball pitching coach Anthoney Claggett joins as a guest on the latest episode of The Roundhouse Podcast to talk about a staff that is among the nation’s leaders in ERA and WHIP nearing halfway through the season. The crew also discusses how coaches have built trust in a time of transition and how pitchers like Nate Adler and Caden Favors have made significant progress this season.

🔼 A Night To Remember. Wichita State Athletics will host its second annual Black and Yellow Gala, a fundraising dinner and auction to support all intercollegiate sports at Wichita State, presented by Equity Bank on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Charles Koch Arena. The doors will open at 5 p.m. for the silent auction followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the live auction at 7 p.m.
