🔼 Senior Send-Off. Wichita State closed out its home schedule in style, beating Florida Atlantic 4-1 yesterday to send off 14 seniors. Johnny Nuanez (5-2) held the Owls to one unearned run over five innings, Reese Kortum delivered 3.2 scoreless frames in relief, and Brady Pacha slammed the door for his sixth save. Jacob Gutierrez paced the offense with a game-high three hits, while Alex Ulloa and Jayson Jones each drove in a run in a two-run second that set the tone early. Wichita State closes the regular season at South Florida beginning Thursday at 5:35 p.m.

🔼 Shocker Showcase. Wichita State closed out its regular season at the Shocker Open with a dominant home performance headlined by two new American Conference leads. Shellamae Farmer cleared a personal-best 4.13m in the pole vault to take the outright conference lead, while Jason Parrish won the 400-meter hurdles in 50.22, improving his own conference lead and ranking 23rd nationally.

The Shockers swept the 100/110 hurdles, with freshman Keely Hoback running the No. 10 time in school history (13.76) and Josh Parrish winning the men's 110 hurdles. Chairo Ogbebor tied the school record in the 100-meter dash with a wind-legal 10.17, which also ranks fourth in Canada this season and leads all U23 Canadian performers. Wichita State heads to Denton, Texas, for the American Conference Outdoor Championships May 14-16.

🔼 New Track. Wichita State officially debuted its upgraded University Stadium at the Shocker Open on Friday, unveiling a nine-lane track with 48-inch lanes: the NCAA-recommended standard and a meaningful jump from the eight narrower lanes previously in place. The wider lanes drew immediate praise from hurdler Josh Parrish, who noted they help athletes stay in their own race when things get wild over the barriers. At full completion, the venue will be ready to host American Conference Championships and NCAA-level meets.
