Good morning, Shocker Nation. Josh Parrish is your new Wichita State 110-meter hurdle record-holder! Parrish headlined Day 1 of the NCAA West Preliminaries by qualifying for his second straight NCAA Outdoor Championships in the long jump.

Twin brother Jason Parrish won his 400-meter hurdles heat at 50.65 to advance to today’s quarterfinals, while Tyler Carroll also moved on in the 110 hurdles with the sixth-fastest time in school history.

Wichita State senior Jelese Alexander is competing at the NCAA West Preliminaries in Fayetteville this weekend as a dual-event threat despite battling what director of track and field Steve Rainbolt compared to a gymnast's "twisties" in practice earlier this spring. The Trinidad and Tobago native pushed through the mental hurdle to win the American Conference high jump title at 6-1¼, tying the Wichita State record, and set the program's long jump mark after a breakout day in Fayetteville this April when all five attempts topped her previous best. A transfer from Southern Mississippi in her lone Shocker season, Alexander also holds the second-fastest 60-meter dash in school history and played center-back on Trinidad and Tobago's U-15 soccer team. She competed in the long jump Thursday evening and takes on the high jump Saturday, with the top 12 advancing to Eugene.

🔼 What Dreams Are Made Of. Former Shocker Landry Shamet has a chance to win the NBA Championship! Shamet and the Knicks will face either the Thunder or Spurs in the NBA Finals. Game 1 is slated for June 3 at 7:30 p.m. CT.

🔼 Welcome To Wichita. Wichita State baseball announced the addition of Karter Chamberlain. Chamberlain is a right-handed pitcher who joins the program from Hutchinson Community College, where he earned first team All-Jayhawk West honors.

🔼 Roster Complete. Wichita State men's basketball finalized its 2026-27 roster with the signing of point guard Desmeon "NuNu" Jones from Blinn College. Jones started all 31 games as a freshman, averaging 12.4 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.1 steals while leading Region 14 in assists and ranking second in steals.

🔼 New Addition. Wichita State women's basketball signed junior transfer guard Amaya Lacy from Frank Phillips College, finalizing head coach Terry Nooner's 2026-27 roster. The 5-foot-9 guard started all 29 games as a sophomore, averaging 9.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Nooner praised Lacy as a versatile scorer who impacts the game on both ends.
