What else are we tossing into today’s Brew?

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Who’s Surprised? For a second straight season, Wichita State softball tied a school record as five of its players earned NFCA All-Region honors for their efforts this regular season.

Sydney McKinney was named to the NFCA All-Central Region First Team, Addison Barnard was named to the Second Team, and a trio of Alex Aguilar, Lauren Lucas, and Lauren Mills were all named to the Third Team. Both McKinney and Barnard earned their third consecutive honors to an NFCA All-Region team, Lucas earned her second selection, and both Aguilar and Mills were named to their first ever All-Region teams. You’ve seen the stats, and know exactly why this Shockers team had a school record amount of selections.

The next order of business: NCAA Regionals. The Shockers head down to Stillwater, OK for their first battle of the tournament against Nebraska on Friday night. Watch the game on ESPNU to see how everything plays out. It’s one game at a time for this team, and with the momentum of these newly announced awards, it might just be the boost they need to put together some wins this weekend.

🔼 New Threads. Women’s basketball is up to something, and coach Terry Nooner is putting together a solid roster for his upcoming first season with the Shockers.

WSU has officially signed Sierra Morrow who joins the team from Miami (OH) with one year left of eligibility. The six foot forward made 29 starts last season where she averaged just over seven points per game and ranked fourth in the MAC with 1.5 blocks per game. She was quite the efficient shooter going 44.5% from the field and 75.4% from the free throw line.

Morrow brings the Shockers an extra line of defense and the occasional scoring from the post. “She is highly-competitive, driven, and motivated to win. She will not only add to our team athletically, but will be a tremendous young lady on our campus and in the community,” said coach Nooner about his most recent signing. The versatile new member of the team will join the Shockers this season.

🔼 Rain, Rain, Go Away. Due to inclement weather in the Orlando area, last night’s series opener for Wichita State baseball at UCF has been suspended in the top of the first inning with the score still 0-0. The game will resume this morning at 10:00am CT as part of a doubleheader—with game two to follow 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
