Shocker Brew 5/29: Still Alive

Punching Tickets, Ink To Paper, and much more!

Good morning! We’re approaching the dog days of summer, but that doesn’t mean our Shockers aren’t still out there competing! This is how we’re feeling about their performances out on the track this past weekend.

What else are we tossing into today’s Brew?

👟 Punching Tickets
🥎 Ink To Paper
🌾 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Punching Tickets. Two Shockers qualified their way to the NCAA Outdoor Championships later next month, but the first to secure her spot was the high flying Destiny Masters. The jumper cleared a height of 5’11.5” to finish in 12th out of the available 12 spots that advance to the championships. Getting there is half the battle, and now, Masters will have a shot at obtaining an NCAA title.

🔼 Ink To Paper. After securing the No. 1 pick in the AUX, softball stud Sydney McKinney has officially signed her contract to continue her playing career at the next level. AU Pro Sports has a good one in Syd the Kid, and we know she’s going to put the softball world on notice, as she has been for the last couple of years. Once a Shocker, always a Shocker!

🔼 Another One. The second member of the duo heading to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, Brady Palen, will make his way to Austin, TX thanks to a top-12 finish in the high jump. Palen cleared a height of 7’0.25” in his third attempt and secured his trip come June 9th for a chance at a title. He becomes the first Shocker since Temoer Terry to qualify to the national meet in the high jump.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

It’s Been A While. As you just read, Brady Palen is headed to the NCAA Outdoor Championship for a chance at bringing home some hardware. The high jump is clearly the Shockers forte, but some time has passed since we’ve seen jumpers like these.

The question today—do you know the last time the Shockers had someone competing in the men’s high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships?
