Shocker Brew: 6/13: Kidane/Parrish One-Two Punch
Wichita State's Yared Kidane and Jason Parrish claimed Second Team All-American honors on day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Good morning, Shocker Nation. Wichita State's Yared Kidane and Jason Parrish claimed Second Team All-American honors on day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field.
Kidane ran the sixth-fastest 800-meter time of the day, missing the final by one spot. The AAC champion finished sixth in the first and fastest heat, clocking a time of 1:46.86 to claim 10th place overall and Second Team All-America status.
Parrish also finished 10th in his event, running 50.26 in the 400-meter hurdles, missing the final by one placement. The AAC champion also claimed Second Team All-America recognition.
Wichita State returns to the track one last time, as Destiny Masters is set to compete in the heptathlon today and tomorrow.

Love It When a Plan Comes Together. Wichita State's men's basketball schedule continues to take shape with the addition of three home games to the 2025-26 non-conference schedule.
Wichita State will host Prairie View A&M on Nov. 8, Milwaukee on Nov. 22 and Wofford on Dec. 17 in the Roundhouse. Those games join the schedule with previous games announced over the last couple weeks: Loyola (Nov. 13), at Boise State (Nov. 18) and Battle 4 Atlantis (Nov. 26-28). Dates for return games with Northern Iowa (Dec. 6) and DePaul (13) have also been finalized.

🔼 Single Handedly. Wichita State's Alejandro Jacome earned his first career professional tour singles victory with a win in the main draw of the Wichita Tennis Open on Wednesday evening.
Jacome survived a back-and-forth battle with Kentucky's Eli Stephenson to earn the victory, winning 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (4). The soon-to-be senior from Ecuador is the first Shocker to earn a victory at the Wichita Tennis Open since Nicolas Acevedo earned a win in 2021. Jacome is only the third Shocker to earn a main draw singles win at the Wichita Tennis Open since its inception in 2015.

🔼 Tennis in Texas Takes Shape. The Wichita State women's tennis team is set to head to Lubbock, Texas, for ITA Kickoff Weekend in 2026. The Shockers were one of six teams from the AAC selected to participate in the coveted weekend of matches, joined by Florida Atlantic, Rice, Tulane, Memphis, and Charlotte.
The Shockers are the No. 3 seed in the region, hosted by Texas Tech. WSU will be joined in Lubbock by the host and one-seed Texas Tech Red Raiders, two-seed Oklahoma State, and four-seed Long Beach State.
The top three teams in the region all finished 2025 ranked, with Texas Tech ranked No. 14, Oklahoma State ranked No. 15, and Wichita State ranked No. 60.

🔼 The Final Plus One. Wichita State head men's golf coach Judd Easterling made his final signing to his team's 2025-26 roster on Wednesday afternoon with the addition of Michael Robson.
Robson joins the Shockers with four years of college experience, playing two years at the University of Northwestern Ohio and two years at Oklahoma City University. At Oklahoma City, Robson was a two-time NAIA Men's Golf All-American, earning the recognition in each of the last two years. He is a two-time all-conference selection, earning the honor once at each institution.

🔼 Puzzle is Complete. Wichita State head women's basketball coach Terry Nooner completed his 2025-26 roster with the signing of Karys Washington.
The 5-foot-10 junior guard joins the Shockers after spending her first two years at Coffeyville Community College. As a sophomore, Washington averaged 11.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, starting 30 of 31 games for the Red Ravens. She was named First Team All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and finished the season ranked eighth in the conference in offensive rebounds with 63.
