📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Shocker Champion. Former Wichita State guard Landry Shamet is an NBA champion after the New York Knicks defeated San Antonio 4-1 to capture the franchise's first title since 1973. Shamet delivered when his number was called, hitting 47.5 percent from three in the playoffs and averaging 11.5 points over an eight-game stretch in the later rounds. The road wasn't smooth; Shamet played for six teams in eight seasons, was waived twice in 2024, and logged just three G League games before earning his way back to the Knicks' roster. He joins Dave Stallworth, Nate Bowman, Cliff Levingston, and Fred VanVleet as Shockers with an NBA championship ring.

🔼 Cementing A Legend. Former Wichita State head baseball coach Gene Stephenson received the 2026 Wayne Graham Award for Teaching Excellence from the College Baseball Foundation, recognizing his 36-year tenure building the Shockers into a national powerhouse. Stephenson went 1,837-675-3, won the 1989 College World Series, made seven trips to Omaha, and developed 33 future Major Leaguers. His teams won 20 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season titles and 17 tournament championships, and he was a three-time NCAA Coach of the Year.
"This honor reflects his lasting impact on Shocker Baseball and further solidifies his legacy as a model of coaching excellence and leadership, both on and off the field," said Director of Athletics Kevin Saal.

🔼 Welcome to Wichita. Infielder Kade Gavina joins Wichita State baseball from Fort Scott CC. Gavina, a native of Texas, hit .400 and earned first-team all-conference honors at shortstop.
