Shocker Brew: 6/27: This Rings a Bell

We take a look back at Shockers MBB player Xavier Bell's epic college career.

Good morning, Shocker Nation. We’re recounting our top Shockers stories of 2024-25, and first up is Xavier Bell.

As a Wichitan and a Shocker legacy athlete, Xavier Bell understands the importance of WSU basketball to the community. Nobody on the 2024-25 team worked harder to give fans a reason to cheer than this senior guard. Wayne Bell, who played for football for WSU, named his son in honor of Shocker great Xavier McDaniel.

Bell led the Shockers in scoring at 15.2 points on his way to earning All-American Athletic Conference honors.

He transferred to WSU from Drexel and made significant improvements in his game each season. In 2022-23, he started nine games and made 22.8 percent of his three-pointers. Last season, he made 34 percent of his threes.

But he did much more than shoot jumpers. Bell led the Shockers with 151 free throws made and shot 88.8 percent from the line, the No. 7 mark in school history.

What else are we mixing into today’s edition of the Shocker Brew? Find out below!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

For the Thrill Of It. ⏮️ It’s time for another rewind, this time in volleyball. Morgan Stout came to Wichita State with tremendous athletic ability. She was uncertain if she could turn that into a good career. When coach Chris Lamb offered her a scholarship, she hesitated, saying she didn’t think she was good enough.

"We've never had a better competitor than Morgan," Lamb said. "That doesn't exist."

Stout ended her Shocker career last fall by leading WSU into the NCAA Tournament. She also earned all-conference and All-Central Region honors after leading middle blockers nationally with 3.15 kills per set.

The Vegas Thrill took Stout with the 25th pick in the Pro Volleyball Federation draft and she recently completed her first season with the team.

And more love for Lambo! 👇🏼 🏐 🖤 💛
