Shocker Brew: 6/4: Home-and-Home With Former Foe
Former Missouri Valley Conference MBB foes, Wichita State and Loyola Chicago, have agreed to a home-and-home series, beginning in 2025.
Good morning, Shocker Nation. Former Missouri Valley Conference foes, Wichita State and Loyola Chicago MBB, have agreed to a home-and-home series, beginning in 2025.
Wichita State will host the Ramblers in Charles Koch Arena on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025 and make the return trip to Chicago in 2026 with a date TBA.
The two programs were members of the MVC for four seasons together before Wichita State departed for the American in 2017. The Shockers are 27-9 all-time vs. Loyola and enters the November matchup having won the last 11 meetings.

Ready For Some “Gala-vanting?” ICYMI! Wichita State Athletics will host its third annual Black and Yellow Gala presented by Equity Bank at Charles Koch Arena on August 16th. The fundraising dinner and auction will support all intercollegiate sports at Wichita State.
There are several different registration options including a VIP table for eight that includes premium table location, early entry for the silent auction, special guest at the table and a gift. The VIP table is $2,500, which includes a private pre-event social in the Champions Club. A regular table of eight is $1,600 and an individual ticket is $175.

🔼 Beehive State to the Sunflower State. Newly hired Wichita State MBB assistant coach Josh Eilert joins the RH podcast to discuss his coaching background and why he left banking in a small Kansas town to return to the sport.
Eilert comes to WSU from Utah, where he spent one season as assistant coach and closed the season as interim head coach. He spent 17 seasons at West Virginia under coach Bob Huggins in a variety of roles. Eilert played at Cloud County Community College and Kansas State.

Here are some stats from his final season as Shocker:
Made 23 appearances with three starts…Went 2-2 with a 4.42 ERA…Pitched 38.2 innings with 16 walks and 35 strikeouts…Pitched a season-high six innings at Indiana State on May 19…Struck out a season-high five against Evansville on May 13…Earned wins against Omaha and Indiana State…Pitched two shutout innings with four strikeouts against Omaha on March 1…Pitched six innings and allowed one run on four hits with four strikeouts at Indiana State on May 19...Named to the AD's honor roll for Fall 2016 and Spring 2017.

🔼 Blast Off. In more alumni news, but this time for MBB, Fred VanVleet sure has made an impression on the Houston Rockets.
VanVleet was Wichita State’s career leader in assists (637), steals (225) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.08). He helped lead the Shockers to three MVC titles, three Missouri Valley Conference regular season titles, and nine NCAA Tournament wins.
