📈 STOCK UP

🔼 All-American Boy. For the 58th time in Shocker baseball history, WSU had a player selected to an All-American team. Two-way phenom Payton Tolle was named a NCBWA Second Team All-American.

The lefty in the mound went 9-3 in 15 appearances this season with a 4.62 ERA. He led the entire AAC in wins and innings pitched, and finished with 97 strikeouts in just 85.2 innings. At the plate, Tolle was a major contributor with a .311 batting average, 13 home runs and 50 RBIs. With Tolle’s selection and Brock Rodden’s All-American selection by Collegiate Baseball, it’s the first time since 2011 that the Shockers had multiple All-American honorees.

🔼 Game On. The battle for Kansas is on as Athletic Director Kevin Saal announced yesterday that Wichita State and Kansas agreed to a regular season men’s basketball matchup in 2023 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. The game will be played on Dec. 30th, 2023.

This will mark the first season in over 30 years that the Shockers will see both Kansas and Kansas State in the regular season. Tickets are coming soon, and will be available through the T-Mobile Center on June 23rd at 10:00am, so mark your calendars, because you aren’t going to want to miss this one.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

It’s Been A While. Both Kansas and Wichita State have storied men’s basketball programs, but to say it’s been a while since these last two teams have met would be an understatement.

Our question today — do you know which year the Shockers last faced off against the Kansas Jayhawks?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 1993!

The Shockers have not seen the Jayhawks since 2015 when WSU knocked off Kansas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament 78-65. Oh, what a great day it was.

Have a great weekend, y’all.
