🔼 All-Americans, The Sequel. The season’s over, but the awards keep flying in. Wichita State baseball’s Brock Rodden and Payton Tolle have been named ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans—with Rodden earning a spot as Third Team second baseman and Tolle chosen as Second Team utility player.

⚾️ Brock Rodden authored a spectacular season as Wichita State's everyday second baseman, slashing .371/.474/.701 to lead the conference in both on-base percentage and slugging percentage. The switch-hitter hammered 18 doubles, two triples, and 17 home runs—good for 155 total bases that tied for the top mark in the AAC.

His .371 batting average, 62 runs scored, and 64 RBI all finished second on the circuit. The American Athletic Conference Player of the Year was also a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection.

⚾️ Payton Tolle was named First Team All-Central Region and First Team All-American Athletic Conference utility player after a breakout season as the team’s Saturday starter and designated hitter. The 6'6 lefty went 9-3 with a 4.62 ERA over 15 appearances including 14 starts, leading the conference in wins and innings pitched, finishing the season with 97 strikeouts in 85.2 innings.

He held opponents to a .245 batting average, racking up eight quality starts and four starts with 10 or more strikeouts. But his most memorable performance from the season came on April 22 when he fired a complete game shutout against No. 7 East Carolina in which he allowed just two hits and no walks while striking out 10.

🔼 Listen Up. On the latest episode of The Roundhouse Podcast, Wichita State women's basketball assistant coaches Brooke Costley and Nick Bradford update fans on summer workouts, team building and… bowling? (You can’t have team-building without bowling.)

Listen as they discuss Brooke Costley's journey from NCAA Division II athlete to Wichita State and her hobby as an artist. Nick Bradford talks about his long friendship with coach Terry Nooner and how he learned to root for the Kansas City Chiefs and leave behind the Dallas Cowboys.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

Put the ball in play. One thing we didn’t mention when talking about Brock Rodden and Payton Tolle is that both were in the top-25 of the AAC when it came to batting average last season…

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Jacob Germany talked in the Koch Arena concourse during a break in basketball camp and a fan walked by.

“We're ready for you," the fan said.

“Appreciate it,” Germany responded.

That wasn't the first indication for the graduate transfer that Shocker basketball is important around the city. As a transfer from UTSA, he’s getting acquainted with his new team and school as the Shockers prepare to start summer practices today.

He’s also getting acquainted with fans who pay close attention to all things Shocker basketball.

A week ago, the transfer hit McDonald's for breakfast after a workout and the person who served him his McGriddle knew he played for the Shockers. Yes, he’s 6’11” but he wasn’t wearing Shocker gear.

“Never had that at UTSA. It was cool. It's one of the reasons I came here. I'm excited to play for everybody here.”
