🌾 ONE BIG THING

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is just around the corner, and the AfterShocks have added a dynamic duo to bolster the roster. Both Darral Willis and Alterique Gilbert have committed to play this summer for the team of Wichita State alumni.

🏀 Willis tallied 698 points and 383 rebounds over his career and averaged 23.4 points per 40 minutes, one of the highest career totals in Shocker history. He was named to the 2017 MVC All-Newcomer Team and selected as the 2018 Most Improved Player.

🏀 Gilbert helped the Shockers to the team’s first AAC regular season title in the 2020-21 season as a senior. He averaged 10.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in nearly 30 minutes per game.

Tune in later today at 10 a.m. to see who the AfterShocks will play in round one during the TBT 2024 Bracket Reveal.

📈 STOCK UP

🌾 For the next couple of editions of the Shocker Brew, we will recap the top ten Shocker stories from the 2023-24 athletic calendar year, courtesy of The Roundhouse.

🔼 No. 10: Coming in at No. 10 of the Top Shocker Stories of 2023-24 is the men’s golf’s appearance at the AAC Championship. The team finished third in the postseason tournament, the program’s best in six years as a member of the AAC. Michael Winslow climbed 15 spots with his final-round 66 and the Shockers moved up from fourth to third.

🗣️ "It all came together. We struggled with putting 54-hole tournaments together this spring. It was nice to see that finally come together and for us to play a really good 54-hole event." - Judd Easterling, head coach

🔼 No. 9: The ninth spot in the Top Shocker Stories of 2023-24 goes to women’s tennis’ playoff performance at the AAC Championship. The team advanced to the quarterfinals of the AAC Championship before losing 4-3 to eventual champion Charlotte. The Shockers finished the spring No. 8 in the Central Region, their highest spot since fourth in 2018.
