🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Wichita State track and field’s Destiny Masters was named the College Female Athlete of the Year by the Wichita Sports Commission at the 26th Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet. The junior track star became a five-time All-American this year, earning First Team All-American honors at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships with a sixth-place performance in the pentathlon.

To cap off the year, Masters placed 13th in the nation at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials to cap her junior campaign, and she will return to Wichita State for one remaining year of eligibility.

🔼 No. 8: Shocker softball’s CC Wong signed on to the team in August, and little did Shocker Nation know the impact she would bring to the team. Wong hit .470 (second in the nation) in 50 starts with 14 home runs and 14 doubles. She earned the nation's Most Improved Player title from Softball America and three All-American selections, including First Team honors from Softball America, Second Team honors from the NFCA, and a Second Team selection from DI Softball.

🗣️ "You go into the transfer portal and you don't know what's going to happen. They took a chance on me. I came in with nothing and they helped me see the potential. All props to them." - CC Wong

🔼 No. 7: It isn’t every day that a new team is added to the mix, but that’s exactly what happened this past year with the addition of Wichita State Women’s Bowling. On July 1, Wichita State will add one of the nation's top programs to its roster of NCAA sports. Shocker women's bowling, long a national power and pioneering force in the sport, owns 11 ITC titles, and in April, the Shockers won another ITC title by defeating Jacksonville State, the 2024 NCAA champion.

⏰ Come back Monday to continue the countdown of Shocker Athletics’ best moments from 2023-24!

🔼 The Bracket Is Here. The Basketball Tournament (TBT) announced the official bracket ahead of the games later next month. As the top seed in the Wichita Regional, the AfterShocks will play Wichita-based minor league team Midtown Prestige on Saturday, July 20, at noon on FS1. If the AfterShocks advance to the second round, they will face the winner of Purple Reign and Team Colorado on July 22 at 8 p.m.
