🏀 A men’s basketball rivalry is renewed
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Add yet another accolade to the list. Shocker softball’s Addison Barnard was named the 2023-24 AAC Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A qualified group annually selects 22 student-athletes (10 males, 12 females), one from each AAC-sponsored sport, who receives a post-graduate, post-eligibility financial scholarship of $2,000 and a trophy.

Last month Barnard was named to the CSC Academic All-America Second Team, becoming the first Shocker to repeat as an Academic All-American. She was a First Team selection in 2022, and in May, graduated with a degree in health science with a cumulative GPA of 3.82.

🔼 Crown Him. Wichita State’s own Jackson Caldwell was named the American Athletic Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Caldwell became the second-straight Shocker to earn the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award while becoming the first Wichita State cross country member to win the sports’ award since joining the AAC in 2017.

🔼 Rivalry Renewed. A former conference rival of the Shockers has agreed to a home-and-home series starting this season. Wichita State and Northern Iowa, the former Missouri Valley Conference foes, will meet at the Charles Koch Arena this year on November 14, followed by a road trip to Cedar Falls on December 6, 2025. The all-time series is tied at 28-28 after the Shockers won the last two matchups as MVC foes and Wichita State holds the 17-9 advantage against UNI at home.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Wichita State men’s basketball newcomers TJ Williams and Zion Pipkin join the show to talk about how their first summer in Wichita has been. Plus, Williams discusses what it’s like to decide to play for a hometown team and Pipken describes what it takes to be a great leader at the point guard position.
